The one chord wonder! John Lee Hooker was all about the rhythm. Relentless. A completely original artist. Thanks for the clip at the beginning, just brilliant.

Got to be the best teacher of blues guitar I have come across . His stuff always first class.

John Lee Hooker is not easy to play authentically. Just look at all the other KZbin teachers who can't really do it. They play a version of what they think it sort of sounds like but it's never got the real JLH groove or sound. Tom Feldman is the exception, he's on a whole other level. I've bought four of his courses and they're one of the best investments I ever made!

You really succeeded with this lesson. The basis of what mr Hooker is doing is here and I really enjoy the openness for how to strum and so on. Most guitar players who play with their fingers are difficult to imitate when it comes to technique - but this was good! Thanks!

Nice lesson but I'm struggling to work out what your doing after the opening riff as you do two different base runs, you explain one then play another? And it would be nice to know what strings your hitting for those little flourishes in between....I know there's some individual style to add in but I'm a total beginner, just trying my best to copy what you do.
@BackyardRambo6 жыл бұрын
Just concentrate on the the main riffs and use the chugga percussion to keep tempo. When you're comfortable with the main body of the song it will be easier to understand the low parts. There's definitely a feel to it more than an exact notation.

Blind Meringue These men produce the best blues lessons I've ever seen. 720p is more then enough Meringue. Hell I watch in 240p and I can see perfectly. Hi Trey, defo the best blues lessons, and this one is up there, I have no issues with the content. Only a short while ago the video quality was state of the art but I spend many hours trawling round youtube guitar lessons as I am retired and they need to upgrade in my opinion

Instead of 3rd string, second fret stuff it would be a MUCH better lesson if you told the student what NOTES you are playing. Too fast and WAY TO HARD to follow.

So make your own damn video, Fn critic! If you can't follow this go back to your Mel Bay song books...

I wish he was saying note names instead of "fourth string second fret" etc. Is this for folks who can't read notes or something?
@PlayCountryBlues4 жыл бұрын
Most people do not know the notes...including the original artist. The goal is to help as many folks as possible and it is more universal to say string/fret.
@peterbourke13554 жыл бұрын
Does not fully explain strum, and way too fast, also the tablature does not reflect exactly what he plays-this is particularly noticeable in first 6 minutes of lesson, an engaging presenter but just average teacher
@PlayCountryBlues4 жыл бұрын
TAB is not a running transcript of the entire video. It is taken from the last split screen segment where I play through the song slowly.
@axxmaniaxx3 жыл бұрын
too much talk. Just play it normal, then slow. No need to talk, as long as we can hear & see how its played.
