For many years I've mixed 1 gallon of Rustoleum Gloss Black (not the kind made for metal specifically, but the normal one) with 1/2 quart of Rustoleum Aluminum for a dark charcoal metallic color. The key is make sure all the solids are mixed thoroughly as the aluminum especially tends to separate and you'll have a thick layer in the bottom. For hand brushing it I add 1/2 cup mineral spirits and for spraying a full cup of spirits. You'll need a 2 gallon bucket to mix them together and a tight lid for storage. Over time it develops a top skin layer that can be cut around the perimeter then thrown away so that you can re-mix and re-use. Lastly, you can add in 1/4 cup of silver, bronze, or even gold flake if you want a metallic sparkle. I build flight simulators (simsamurai is my site) and have used it on all my builds as well all my shop carts and multiple pieces of furniture builds. I've also custom mixed a dark bombay mahogany with black, brown, and red before as well an Espresso black with just black and brown and a touch of bronze.

I couldn't find the aluminum at the local store. The nearest was about an hour away, but I like how cheap & easy it is to mix a custom color. And, It's also happened to me where the top layer of paint dried into a skin 😅 but there was barley any paint left so I threw it away. Thanks for your feedback!

This is exactly the kind of video I was looking for since I like using the quarts of tractor paint too. I just wanted to preview the color mixing of pretty much any obvious combo and this does that. One more thing though about lavender, how would I make lavender or periwinkle? I think not just adding almond, maybe pink too? I have a weird colored car I need to repaint but I want it more vibrant.
