@@tpilot_error404 it actually isn't. It is a few hundred yards after the exit of an extremely low speed hairpin, that itself follows a relatively low speed straight away. Furthermore, the preceding corner exits on the left side of the track so he should have seen the commotion clearly as he crossed to the right side of the track behind the other cars. There would have been a clear angle with no obstructions of the lame car and of all the cars jumping in and out of line ahead of him which is uncommon, and only ever means proceed with caution. There is no excuse for him to not have had time to assess the situation. He was either being greedy and was hoping to use the injured car to his advantage by using it as a bit of blocking for the two cars ahead and he would be clever and go around the outside and keep his speed instead of slowing. Which makes him a total cunt who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a race track. Since he should be slowing for the yellow flag and should know that any positions he gained would be disallowed and reversed anyway, specifically to prevent this exact situation. Or he didn't see the car at all, or the yellow flags, and got confused why others were slowing on a portion of track where they would normally be speeding up, and was going to avoid what he probably assumed to be an emerging situation, though it was clearly ongoing. In which case he should be suspended for not being aware of yellow flags or following yellow flag procedures which would have disallowed and caused a reversal of any positions gained anyway.

He was trying to go by inside lane, behind the Ferrari that was going off the track. But as soon as he realized the car in front was too close because apparently the orange car hit the brakes while passing through the white one, what makes the Porsche driver go into the only place left. I'm surprised that the driver's quick reflex was enough to hit just the edge of the rear instead of burying the front of the Porsche perfectly in the middle of the rear of the Ferrari 333. Lmao, I definitely could never do that, I would probably hit both cars if it were up to my skills

to everyone blaming only the porsche, the entire field was blasting past at unsafe speeds, not just the driver who hit the stationary car. while they should be penalized for ignoring yellows and causing a collision, the rest of the field should also recieve punishment for ignoring yellows, the whole point of a yellow flag is safety, and while the others may have avoided being the one to hit the near-stationary car, some only just barely avoided it, and most just kept going at full tilt. safety needs to be properly enforced in sports, and the competition can always come second to avoiding dangerous crashes like this one
@ttt69420
@ttt69420 2 ай бұрын
@@flaming_ace I disagree, even though gut sentiment says to agree. Danger is part of the sport, that's the only way people learn, and this isn't that bad assuming you stay strapped in (you'd be an idiot not to). Are they all stupid, yes absolutely. But I'm not prepared to water down the sport even more than it has been over it. They should be openly ridiculed for their ineptitude. Penalties should remain on a case to case basis. If you want safety then stay at home and turn on the playstation.
@SimoneSaviolo
@SimoneSaviolo 2 ай бұрын
There's somethings that I don't like about how penalties are handled in F1 - and GT seems to be the same. There's a huge list of rules, don't do this, don't do that, you can but only if your front wheel's front edge is before the center of the other car's side mirror... but they are never applied unless there is a collision. Like here: you should slow down and use caution during yellow flag, but if you don't and miss the other car by five centimeters than everything's ok. It doesn't make much sens to be honest...

That was actually the best solution I ever heard, I can't believe this isn't a thing! A dangerously unsafe driver who doesn't reduce the throttle because he's in a "high speed" turn, would quickly learn the simple rule: "If you don't reduce the throttle now, it will be reduced for you.". It should be an easy rule to remember, because if the unsafe driver is holding the throttle, doing a high speed corner during an accident, then the car can automatically drop the throttle anyways. That would teach him what it feels like to have a crash! And he'll be sure to know that he was wrong, and couldn't avoid crashing - when there's been an accident - by holding the throttle in a fast corner like that! Taking away the drivers control over their car - especially if it happens for all of them at once - when someone has just had a crash because they lost control over their car, would definently be safer than what it is now.

It defeats the point, which is to do show the drivers well in advance. The drivers were to blame here, for not slowing and also failing to observe the stranded car.

As soon as they noticed the car was stuck on the track, they should have red flagged the race. That collision was completely preventable if they had stopped the race right then.

One of the premier race tracks in the world and nobody thought to bring the yellow flags. "Oh no, a crash! Get the yellow flags!" "I thought you brought them!" What a joke of marshalling. Yes, I know the announcers said there were flags out, but if there were (I didn't see any) and cars were still speeding by, then that simply means the standards are not being enforced and penalties are not being given out. Once again, a marshalling issue.

Next ruling is yellow flags incidents will initiate the speed governor on the race cars so that drivers can’t speed through dangerous situations encountered on track

Stuff like this is why gentlemanly racing rules were a thing. Cars are too safe now, all drivers only care about no.1. Wasn't like that years ago.

They should put speed limiters on the vehicles that can be activated when there is a crash and objects are on the runway that need to be cleared. Preventing the engine and vehicle from going over 100kmh maybe even a lower speed. That way the drivers get a loss of engine power instead of their brakes suddenly activating.
@julioverne579
@julioverne579 Ай бұрын
Warning flags? Really? If something like that happens there should be an automated signal for all drivers to lower their speed.

Christian Hook sitting helpless in his Ferrari 296 GT3, literally, in the middle of the track at Circuit de-Spa Francorchamps, unable to move or drive his car to safety...Is suddenly and violently plowed into by Adrian D'Silva's Porsche 911 GT3 R, which was traveling at a speed of 208 KM/HR. Christian Hook's initial crash which caused his Ferrari to become disabled and undriveable, as it came to rest in the middle of the course ~ Resulted in a serious "On-Track" situation, which lead to a Double-Yellow Caution to be Immediately Flagged by Officials! Radio Communications were sent to all Drivers, to proceed with Caution and Safety! The Drivers were also Warned to obey accident protocol. However, instead of following the safety rules, the GT DRIVERS that drove past Hook's damaged and disabled Ferrari, continued to race and pass eachother ~ According to SRO & GT RULES, the passing drivers are all REQUIRED to slow down to the same speed; drive in a single line; safely approach and pass accident; and Do Not Pass other cars!!! Christian Hooks is so bloody lucky and fortunate to be alive; and obviously, to have walked away from such a scary and violent crash. It was an absolutely sad sight to watch how irresponsible and careless other Drivers acted, during this very serious and dangerous situation. Thankfully, all those involved in the accidents, walked away from them!!!

The time it took for race control to make such an announcement could not reach the teams or the drivers in time, as it took seconds for such conditions to be properly extended and the two crashes were separated by around 5-8 seconds, LESS than the yellow flag conditions properly permeated across the entire first section, which includes La Source.
