GTX 1660 SUPER on Silent Hill 2 Remake | 1080p Performance Test

Hi everyone, don't forget to hit the like button to help the channel. In some moments of this video you will see the resolution set to 3440x1440 but Fullscreen Borderless will be using the Desktop Resolution, which I set to be 1080p, so don't worry about that. There is only FSR 1.0 as upscale option for 1660 Super which is complicated since FSR 1.0 is quite bad, I would play at Native using a Custom Preset, if you set the shadows to Low, you will get a great boost in performance with small visual impact. The first 10 minutes of gameplay are more demanding but it gets better after that. Stutters are quite frequent. Edit: There is FSR 3 and XeSS in the game as well, but it doesn't work on GTX 1660 SUPER

Are the stutters frequent throughout the whole game or only in the first 10 minutes that you mentioned?

@@DanielSlva The area I've mentioned the performance is better is actually the area I'm recording, stutters aren't better here but you can expect a much higher AVG fps.

You can enable D12 and get the Fsr3 and Xess, but you get more instable fps

I actually have the same cpu and graphic card, but my performance in 1080p low is not so good, even my CPU is at 75°. (Performance is between 40 - 55 fps)

Nice to see the GTX 1660 Super’s still a viable GPU as I got mine a few years ago to upgrade my GTX 460 💀 from when I built my rig back in 2011; but I wonder how an i7-2600K would fare with SH2R… 🤔 All I know is RE4R looks and performs so much better on my mid-range PC in 1080p with mid-high settings than on PS4 (Plat’d first and then got a discounted Steam copy to play with mods a few months later cuz boredom kills me 🤷🏻‍♀️).

Same. I bought mine in 2020 (just before the lockdowns) thinking I might upgrade it a few years down the line, once things calm down a bit. 4 years later, and this little beast is still chewing though rock like it's paper😆. Only thing I ever had an issue with was Alan Wake II. I don't get what's going on with that one but know what? Never been more satisfied with a graphics card quite like the 1660S. At this point, I'm more curious to see how far this thing can go than even think about an upgrade.

@@adnansharif89 I started out with what I considered was the weakest component that I knew I’d eventually have to upgrade: GTX 460 GPU (EVGA 1GB), which I finally did in May 2021 during the awful market due to the nascent semiconductor shortage back then; after checking an in-stock e-mail alert via GearInStock and _within 10 minutes,_ I managed to snag the *very last one* in stock from Newegg Business: GTX 1660 Super (ASUS Phoenix 6GB with launch MSRP at $229) for only $305, which was a fair compromise when most were easily going for $600+ from 3rd-party scalpers!!! ಠ_ಠ You can’t use a regular Newegg account to log into the more obscure business version (unusual for online retailers to have in the first place), so I figured most scalpers were oblivious and I’d have a greater chance at finding one at a reasonable price, which turned out to be the case; I was extremely lucky only because I was well-prepared with my payment method already saved ready to be used. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi friend, as mentioned in the fixed comment, the FPS in the first 10 minutes of gameplay is considerably lower but gets a lot better when you get to the city, and since you will be spending 99% of the game in the city/indoor areas, I think that's what matters.

This isn't as bad as I was expecting from the requirements. Considering the recommended card is almost twice as powerful. How does it run in 1440p FSR? I know this card isn't meant for it, but I can run a lot of games at 1440p.

I tried it on my Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1660 Super, and I swear it runs as good as my Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6600, maybe better. This game HATES AMD Graphics. I have to run on the lowest settings, FSR 1, 1080p, -dx11 to even make it playable.

Why does it say 1440p on the Medium tests onwards? Is it because you have a 1440p monitor just set on 1080p for the tests?

I mentioned about that in the fixed comment, it is related to the Fullscreen Borderless, it will use the Desktop Resolution and not the resolution mentioned there, if the resolution were 3440x1440 it would be stretched since it is a Ultrawide Resolution. The real resolution is the one from Desktop, which is 1080p.

Optimization could be better a tiny bit. Hope they added a setting that reduces Tris counts of objects because 1 corner has minimum 1 million tris lol

this game runs rather poorly tbh. the graphics options are pretty limited too. My gtx 1080 can barely run it, i have to drop down to 1440p. I can usually run most games at 4k with mostly high settings, but not this one...

WTF ur game is running on DX11 im 100% sure. Because in your video u have only 3 Supersampling options, i guess it includes FSR 1.0 only right?? Because the game runs DX11 default on GTX cards even though the card is capable of DX12, there's a fix that when u put -dx12 on the exe command shortcut the game will boot on directx12 then FSR3 and Xess will be be an option in supersampling. Have u tested it? The weird thing is the game is much fucking stable on DX11 compared to DX12, and i don't see the difference in graphics fidelity at all? What do u think guys?

Os problemas com os outros tipos de escalas de resolução devem ser resolvidos em futuras atualizações. Mas é bom ver que essa placa ainda consegue rodar algum jogo nativamente

Doesn't the GTX 1660 Super have a bottleneck with that Ryzen? because the game works quite well, unless they have optimized it well. I would like to know if the game will work well with an RTX 2060 Super, although my question is whether it will work well with an Intel Core i3 12400f that I am planning to buy or go straight with a Ryzen 5 3600.
