During my times in Laos, some 55 years ago, we had the township, usually at the junctions of two roads, or right across a river, where we had a few provision shops, sometimes confined to one or two. They might well be run by ethnic Chinese or even the locals, but their capital mainly came from their own savings, repeat own savings, rather than across the border from Mainland China. Things have changed a lot for better. Just one minor thing to suggest, when you dine with others, please try to use serving chopsticks and spoons. When we become wealthy, we also want to live healthier. The tone and the words we speak should also reflect the long way we have been through, from proverty to riches, in one word a more civilized and inclusive society.
