Appreciate the upload, Really learnt a lot. How & why you should do things properly. From installing the right radiator to building a bench to fit a vice on so I don’t have to struggle changing a belt. Once again thank you appreciate it. 👍

Hi bud, good video. Mine is making the same noise. But i noticed that it looks like your steering dampener is on upside down. The cup should be up to let the water and crap run out and not rust it out. Cheers and keep up the great work. Cheers Sav

I've actually been meaning to replace my steering damper ever since I put the bfg's on. Just another job on the list haha.

Hey mate, great vid looking at doing my belt on my GU TD30 as well, startin to squeal like a stuck pig on cold start up. Does the fan really need to come off? where did you get your belt from?
@4x4EastCoast5 жыл бұрын
Mate I have read you can replace the belt from underneath by just removing the bottom section of the shroud. But I have only ever done it from the top. I got the belt off ebay. It is a genuine nissan belt.

Replaced belt and still squealing...bugger! Think it mat be pre tensioner.
@4x4EastCoast5 жыл бұрын
Yeah may be tensioner. Check that all the pulleys are in good nic as well mate before you buy tensioner.

Can easy remove belt while fan still on , loosen tensioner slide of belt ,work it over top of fan ,falls straight off ,im 60 been doing mine without removing fan or radiator cover so on i have the 2008 commonrail ,do it from underneath slip belt back over fan feed it around the pullys ,takes 20 mins top ,last bit once belt on pull tensioner and slip last bit of belt over aircon pully ,also no need to remove fan as you can easy access tensioner bolt from underneath n top bolt through right side under alt

I did a oil change on my Gu patrol today and my step ladder broke causing me to spill oil when filling up with new oil, spilled about 50 mls or a bit more all over the bottom belt area and one of the pulleys, tried degreaser (mechanics recommendations) done this three times but still squeals and drives me nuts. So looks like could have to take off the old belt and clean all pulleys and buy a genuine belt.

That's a bugger mate. Maybe try carbi cleaner after the degreaser. The degreaser can still leave some residue. The carbi cleaner evaperates. Not sure what these would do to the belt though. Maybe hot soapy water may help as well. Good luck with it.

@@4x4EastCoast Yeah tried very thing from brake cleaner, electrical cleaner, degreaser, the the belt grip products are useless. But when i inspected the belt today it's confirmed the belt has also started to swell up. So bought a genuine one from nissan today $120. So NEVER spill oil on those darn belts other wise they are goners.

Except for the annoying music drowning out part of what you were saying, the vid was good. Good thinking

You sound like you know what you're doing but while you're at it why not do the tensioner pulley in any case!? Because 90% it's the pulley. I got mine from eBay and it came with belt and pulley.

I bought a pulley, tensioner and belt off ebay a few years ago. The tensioner only lasted a couple of months. Bought a genuine tensioner after that and it's been on the car ever since. The ebay belt also didn't last long. Since replacing the belt I've had no issue.

@@4x4EastCoast hi was the tensioner that didn’t last long you got from eBay a matsumo brand

Not sure mate. It was a couple of years ago now. I would only put a genuine one on. Mine is still going strong.
