香港真的辜負了衛蘭這位歌手，她用一年時間學會廣東話，發音可能有一點不準，但已經不錯，有時比那些土生土長的香港人還標準，歌唱技巧出色，只因外形和一些負面新聞影響，太可惜！希望她繼續發展得更好！

@@amym3169 因為身邊沒人講粵語，臺灣這。但我從twins 李玟首張粵語開始比較有聽更多。早期，只有唱ktv會關注beyond幾首，還有廣high如黎明陳慧琳謝霆鋒的粵語，還有劉德華與陳小春少數粵語。之後還有林一峰。後來，在聽Twins後追比較多，除了陳奕迅幾張，還包括楊千嬅，謝安琪，衞蘭，容祖兒另外，我也有聽衞蘭英文專輯morning超好聽，相當Bossa nova

衛籣聲音真的很美，一直間斷有演出與演唱會。她在去年和華納約滿，只因音樂理念不同和想跳出舒適圈而拒續約。有訪問問到她之後去向，她想透過音樂傳播福音和到各地做佈道會。

雷頌德訪問中曾經講過，Janice其實係好努力嘅，佢演唱會完全唔會睇提詞器，因為佢根本唔識睇中文，唱幾多首就背足幾多首，原話係以前80年代都冇提詞器冇ear-monitor，嗰個年代開得演唱會嘅都係真正歌星，音準一流，背足歌詞，做足一個歌手嘅本職工作

通常一些外國歌手唱廣東歌時若果發音不正確，會讓人在聽歌時有一些抽離及不能投入；但衛蘭唱廣東歌時，不但沒有令人有抽離感，反而像修飾過一些咬字，令你更加投入，更加被她的歌聲牽動。另一位唱廣東歌不是字正腔圓，但是歌聲十分動人的歌手就是王菲了。

父亲Joey Vidal是菲律宾宿务人，1980年代移民香港，在尖沙咀酒吧当驻场吉他手。[9]母亲是韩国人，祖上有中国血统，但全然不谙中文。卫兰在香港出生后，母亲立即与父亲分手，带卫兰到韩国生活十年。在韩国卫兰没有上学，而是由洋人家庭教师指导，故她英语最流利，韩语不太懂，汉语更全然不会，而母亲只会韩语，两人沟通甚困难。卫兰10岁时母亲要到日本工作，故卫兰被安排返回英属香港。由于卫兰从小只是讲英语，18岁时唱片公司给她5年时间从零学习粤语的听讲，期间每天在公司里只跟同事聊天、买外卖盒饭，2004年公司安排她唱英语歌为出道预热，2005年出道并发行粤语唱片。

I've been a fans of Janice for 20 years. She doesn't read Chinese and the way she sang songs were to remember the vowel and sound like doing phonics. She tried very hard to learn to speak better Cantonese. She has no issue with speaking authentic Cantonese, just with some accents. English is her first language as she studied in an international school. Her parents are from Philippines, Korea & Chinese heritage. Janice was very famous and got loads of prizes in Hong Kong. She has left Warner Music and become an independent singer. She is a very devoted Christian and has made some Christian songs while sharing her testimony with others. Janice has also changed her way of singing in recent years after following different vocal coaches. You could refer to her latest concert to check it out :)

Janice is mixed raced and her father is Philippino. Her whole vocal techniques are completely different from other Cantonese singers. Vocally she is more fluid but it is not easy to apply her techniques and habits to Cantonese songs. She always sounds amazing but it’s obvious to the native ears how she different she sounds to the rest. The difference is obvious to us. I’m not surprised you would prefer her singing coz she’s completely westernized and completely different from other Cantonese singers. She isn’t considered a “local” in Hong Kong but her tone is absolutely beautiful and I can hear her sing all day. She’s just different. She sounds different to the locals too. So yes she’s a westerner singing a Cantonese song. Her first language is English.

Janice has never been criticized for her Cantonese or singing. I don't know why this women speaking on the right made that inaccurate statement about her. Janice Vidal for me is the most natural born singer , her voice is very different from others existing female singers in Hong Kong . That’s makes her so special . No doubt for her westernize deliberation on her singing but lot of her fans love it ! If you do notice some of Hong Kong female singer can’t speak well Cantonese but can deliver it perfectly ; for example the legendary Sally Yeh . Overall Janice for me is lovely singer with a soothing voice . Btw , can u pls elaborate singer Gin Lee next … thx 🙏 ❤

She's actually raised in Hong Kong but her father is Filipino, her mom is korean chinese and she used to live in korea for a decade. so actually her cultural background is quite of a hybrid but mostly she speaks english and she couldn't speak cantonese before she entered the industry

I personally think she did nothing influenced by Celine. If you hear all her singing, that's how she sang.. her own style. But when you pointed out, it sounded like Celine . I think it's just a pure coincidence.

Listen to the podcast at channel called 24/7 talk, by the episode that she as the guest, you will know she and her sister singing at the pub while they were young, and did influenced by some Western singers

“this does sounds like a western singer singing a cantonese song” this view is actually true! Janice doesn’t read Chinese at all, all the words that she sings in the song, she uses English spelling to help her pronounce all these words, so she’s basically singing English throughout the whole song!

She grow up at korean but babysit by an english person, so she only speak english, she went back Hong Kong at 10 years old and train and sing in the bar by her father, who is filipino. that's why she never speak cantonese until signed by the music company. but most impressive is she learn to sing and speaker cantonese so well, and she have to sing the lyrics by using english pronouce in cantonese, BTW this song released in 2005 WOW, almost 20 years already
