Nice review from my hometown! Most of the footage is from my neighbourhood actually. Indeed I would recomend it for a one-day touristic visit or if you are looking for a calm place to live near Madird (In fact I go daily to Madrid to study, it is so easy to go from one city to the other even in PT). Quite accurate info, I would just add a point about bikes and buses. We actually have a complete bus system, (I am surprised you didn't see many buses) but I think the size of the city is quite tricky in this aspect. Because it is small enough for a fit youg person to walk from any point in the city to another, but quite big if you are an elder or you are maybe carrying some purchases. So using a bike might not be worth at all (I learn't that by myself)

I’m looking into moving to Spain this year and Guadalajara was my first option considering how close it is from Madrid. But now I have Valencia on the spotlight, you should make a review of it, your videos are very informative and interesting. 👍 Thank you for making all these videos.

If you are interested to come to Spain to work, if you find a job in Madrid, Guadalajara is a good option. It is cheaper than Madrid and you can easily get there even in PT. Or if you just want a peaceful place to live but having an easy acces to a big city is also a great place.

I'd rather live in Alcalá de Henares. Mid way between Guadalajara and Madrid, historical beautiful place, with plenty of services,well conected, reasonable prices and close to Madrid.

It seems the sky is so blue and clear over there. I really want to go back to Spain. I've only been once back in 1991 and spent New Years 1992 there. We went South to Granada and crossed to Morocco. But I never got to see what I am fascinated with-Castles. When I go back I want to go to the North and explore the areas with the most castles. I was only 16 when I went with my parents and didn't really appreciate it the way I would now.

It's hard for Guadalajara to be located in Madrid area and its surroundings, where there are 7 World Heritage Sites declared by UNESCO, many monuments and castles, palaces, monasteries, convents, artistical villages, etc., even natural: Biosphere Reserves declared by UNESCO, natural parks, historical and artistic gardens and forests, etc. Compared to them is not full of monuments, of course, but I’m sure Guadalajara has almost the same amount of monuments as all Australian cities combined ... 09:15 The AVE train station is 6 km from Guadalajara, not 10-15 km.

Serious question here, how much does a General practice medical doctor make for someone with 5 years of practice? Also in the the same light, what would it be for a Registered nurse with the same amt of years in practice. If you are not sure, do you know a website that can answer that. I just want to make a compare. I live in the states by that bay area. Thanks.
@welshtoro3256
@welshtoro3256 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what the answer is for that but I would hazard a guess. You almost certainly earn far more in the States. My brother in law is a consultant in the North of Spain and he would earn a lot more in the U.K. Many qualified Spanish nurses leave Spain to work in countries like Britain because of pay and not being able to get permanent contracts. That is an issue for doctors as well.

Is it the best city in spain.. no?? ? Well, it all comes down to what you look for. If you, for the frenzy brits that would love the hype of Magaluf then It is not your place... if you really want to feel you are in Spain then it is the place to go. Would you move to London to feel like in UK.... Bollocks... Guadalajara is a lovely little town, with the perks of Nothingam but closer to the capital, a people there welcome the Queen"s crowd like very few others.

I've always wanted to go there to see if there's anything good there for tourism or a day out, I live in central Madrid but I am a lazy sod ! from your video it reminds me of Zamora (without the old Roman/medieval sector) or Palancia, those type of 'cookie cutter' cities but with an old historic past. Great if you love the outdoors with some "decent" small choice nightlife and restaurants. What I don't like is the 'paleto cotilla' element in these small Spanish cities, people who are pig ignorant and gossipy and who say libelous things about you and your family, you get a lot of those types in these places unfortunately, I'm guessing that those types are just bored and want some drama in their lives like a real life soap opera !

LoL , paleto cotilla are in smaller cities, mostly remote town where everyone knows each other. Around 1000 inhabitants max. If you move to Guadalajara the old ladies are not gonna talk about you😉😂 don't worry.
@davedogge2280
@davedogge2280 4 жыл бұрын
@@alfrredd no, you get those types in cities with as high a populations as 100,000. They're easier to avoid in those sized cities but they do exist and can sometimes 'cling on' to your social circles and be quite damaging. Not even old ladies but middle aged women etc. Like I said, people just get bored and it's like the regional sport in those places. Being a master of avoidance and not divulging sensitive information is key to twarting them. Say for example you run a business in one of these small cities and one of these cotillas walks in to gossip and talk bad about people but never buys anything ? what can you do if you want to maintain a good reputation with people in your local area ? I was upstairs in a shop and I could hear downstairs some old hag talking about me and my family, I confronted her and she went hysterical. People are just crazy sometimes.
@alfrredd
@alfrredd 4 жыл бұрын
@@davedogge2280 I think you just had bad luck with one of those ladies. I have seen them where I live (40,000 pop.) but they aren't really negative about other people, they just meet and talk gossip about their lifes, their daughters in law, and other family, what's going on in town, but not curse on your family lol. And is impossible for them to know everyone in town anyway.

My last question is that, if I decided to become a citizen of Spain, do I have to give up my citizenship in the states or can I become a dual citizen? Thanks in advance.
@jaysterling26
@jaysterling26 4 жыл бұрын
I far as I know it's v.hard to became a dual national if not Spanish first. Exceptions are Spanish parent, born overseas & registered within a strict timeframe , anyone from Andorra, Portugal, former colony ( just in L.A.?).Also descendants of Sephardic Jews but 'tests' are applicable in this case . I'm neither a Spanish citizen or resident but because of 'B' desperate to get another passport, alas Spain is not like Ireland or Italy, so no luck for me! I'm just hoping I can spend more time there when I retire (!) but having to leave after 3 months ( then wait for 9 months?) , as it looks likely right now.. ¡Buen suerte!

From your own description of Guadalajara as being not the prettiest city in Spain or the ugliest either I don't feel so bad in not having visited. There are two provincial capitals I haven't visited: the above named and Albacete, although the latter I have passed many times on my way to the beach usually stopping at a roadside gas station to use the facilities (Albacete, caga y vete). I would like to visit the Alcarria, the underpopulated area that lies to the east and also the Mar de Castilla, the huge reservoirs also lying to the east. Oh, that corruption. It seems everywhere you go in Spain there is an example of a project that only served to fill the pockets of a local landowner, politician, or business man. There are so many airports and train stations that are either totally abandoned or get so few users that they will never be able to pay for themselves. The Costa del Sol is one vast region of money laundering and kickbacks. Imagine what Spain could do if there wasn't so much corruption.
