Guadeloupe, French Carribean (2020) 4K

Summary of the highlights of our trip to Guadeloupe in july 2020. We stayed in Deshaies (the place is called Chez Swann). The video is shot mostly on iPhone 11 Pro with DJI Osmo Mobile, but also some shots from my GoPro Hero8 Black and my DJI Mavic 2 Pro. Edited in Final Cut Pro X.

I want to use this opportunity to educate the world about a word used in Guadeloupe which people have been saying its origin is unknown.. The word is BEKE. This word is used in reference to white people or French Europeans . It is actually an IJAW WORD for Europeans. The Ijaw is a tribe in Southern Nigeria . The Igbo tribe also use it but the Igbo had borrowed it

Hello, thanks for your reply! In my opinion Petite Terre is a no-brainer! You can explore the island and snorkel with rays, turtles, sharkes etc, We took two different speedboat excursion with eyes-caraïbe, I would definitely recommend them. Apart from that we did a buggy tour which is really adventurous as well!

As tourism is the main source of income, it's the main option. Although wages are not that high compared to the living cost, it depends, on where and what u plan to do for a living. Sales (in one of those malls, As a host( restaurants) , or as technician (i.e Solar, & Clean energies, agriculture), education sector...or renting branch (cars, boats ect. ). Good luck.

Kwok Kwong Frank Tam- It`s like any where in Europe. You can start from dust man to medical doctor, nurse, secretary, waiter, aircraft pilot...etc...etc... or whatever you are qualified for, it all depends on the vacancies. The minimum wage is at the same rate like in Paris and Mainland France in Europe.

Hello, thanks for your comment! French is indeed the language spoken by the people of Guadeloupe. Most people don’t speak English, only in some popular areas at hotels and restaurants.

Actually the mostly spoken language in Guadeloupe is the Guadeloupean Creole, guadeloupeans speak it more than french, whites french cant understand it

Wouter Van belle- Exactly! French is the official language of the island but like every where else, most of the people are now learning English (Specially the youngsters) becoz of the American cultural influences, internet...etc...and in order to make it easier to communicate with the world. They also speak french creole. it`s not that hard to learn it`s not like Chinese or Japanese, it`s just a kinda broken french full of ancient french words and expressions whom are not used in Mainland France anymore.

@@guyver-9717 -Creole has nothing to do with the color of your skin. What you mean "White french can`t understand it!"? White Guadeloupeans are not french now? White folks from this Department do have a perfect command of it, It`s their language too! And lots of mainland French are not fluent in creole but can surely understand it. Creole in Guadeloupe was not created by the black community, it emerged from the blending of all the different communities that form the population of the island.
