Guam is getting expensive

Taxes are slowly making their way to price tags of daily necessities and having an impact on your wallets. Owners and customers say the change in prices is adding up - an effect that will continue when the sales tax goes in effect starting in October 1.

Interesting that now with the corona virus the price of gas goes down... 🤨 So mainly price goes up because tourism is up and everyone wants a cut of their money, but now that tourism is down prices go down... Guam needs to seriously be more locally reliable first than relying largely on tourism and military. Take care of locals first.

It's expensive when a person is earning MINIMAL WAGE. Even at $10 an hour is not enough to cover the basic utilities.

The Island relies on goods coming from the U.S. mainland, therefore it will be expensive. Everything has to be shipped to Guam & it cost more probably, more than Hawaii since Hawaii is closer to the U.S. mainland than Guam. What Guam Wholesalers can do is important some goods from the Philippines. The island is closer to the Philippines. I have been to the Philippines many times & there grocery products some are similar to the U.S. I am from California & even here some grocery products are expensive because of inflation but probably not as expensive as in Guam because it is farther away & shipments are costly. Just saying.

And I heard the other day (back on the Main Land) that you are getting recompense for Guam being invaded. By the Japanese. But the U.S. Govt is paying for it, via funds for Guam by the U.S. Govt. Why isn't Japan paying for this?
