Try a spin build on Guan Yu. You need Quick Spin then either of the other two. Flying is better for healing imo, Massive is better for raw damage. Then just line up your special with your spin projectile and enemies fall like flies.

Almost everything in Hades is based on real (generally slightly obscure) versions of greek myths. I was actually bitching to a friend that in the version of Zagreus's story where he is Persephone's son Zeus is his father, and he eventually becomes Dionysus, which was the mystery promulgated by the Orphic cult, so I was pretty amused when Dionysus suggested playing a prank on Orpheus by telling him they were actually the same god. I got outplayed. Anyway, in myth Zeus and Poseidon tended to be closer than most of the gods, and in stories that evidently happen chronologically earlier because they explain natural phenomena (for example the seasons, which the story of Persephone explain) Zeus especially tends to try to include Hades in that fraternal bond. I also really liked when Zeus told Zag to relay to Hades that Zeus "forgave him" and that he was welcome back on Olympus. It's the right mix of completely self-absorbed arrogance and well-meaning benevolence that characterises most of the poets' myths of Zeus. Zeus arranging the abduction of Persephone specifically also comes from myth but I don't know of a version where Hades was not the abductor.

I always run Aspect of Lucifer with Demeter’s keepsake to try and get her cast. With the ice beams and exploding hellfire (Lucifer special) all over the field you don’t even need to use attack. Works every time, especially if you get the Artemis/Demeter duo and either Artemis legendary or extra Chaos casts

This is a neat alternative. For me, I used the Aegis Shield with the Aspect of Chaos. My 1st Daedalus Hammer upgrade gave me the Pierce Shot, where my Bull Rush becomes a charged shot, and I used that to get the Pierced Butterfly achievement.

I've recently been trying the pierced butterfly with... Excalibur... Hey, I can't take any damage if they're already dead. I can only manage a 20 percent but that 20 percent is MASSIVE.

My interpretation of Parting Shot is any additional bonuses you have from boons that apply to backstab, outside of Parting Shot, also apply to your cast, plus the 35% bonus.

Putting Athena on the attack and spamming spins isn't so bad, the spins will deflect everything coming toward you. Try to get Quick Spin ad a hammer.

@@raviolibirb8009 some of the hydra combinations can really f up the field as seen in this run when he gets hit by a pool of lava hidden directly under one of the heads, some of the special effects for armored enemies can be even more distracting and the extreme measures last stages against the fury sisters and hades have this annoying fog...rogue pink butterflies, multiple archers that are at the edge of the screen, small chariots spawning under you or out of sight next to you and thanatos' big circle on the floor that can make some projectiles hard to see...and all of these factors combined are not as annoying as getting bad hammers or boons on an aspect that really isn't effective nor fun to play. Imo the game isn't about not getting a perfect run and I imagine it to be quite a frustrating task that mostly relies on having the RNG god on your side

i think the boon does give you extra backstab damage, because the effect is your shot deals back stab damage, then the addition is the extra damage percentage overall im guessing, though it is very confusing, like that demeter boon where it says "all" enemies gotta be chill for the effect, but that sounds insane, why would you want an effect that only functions once you got all the enemies chilled

For the Demeter boon, its super easy. Only one or two enemies on screen? Decay takes effect. It's better thought of as a boon that works better on bosses.

I've been telling people Chiron or Zag bow more lately, although getting power shots can be hard to get used to. Try getting Artemis on special for Chiron or on attack for Zag!

i go for fists of malphon because they give you a flat bonus to evade, couple that with ambent plume and you can get a lot of dodge

Personally I went with shield, but I would imagine that an Aspect of Poseidon run with either Aphrodite, Poseidon or Artemis cast would be quite good as well. Shield is kinda wonky with most of it's aspects, so you'll either "get it" or be at a total loss I think ^^

Zag Aspect Spear with Artemis Speial and Exploding Special in Combination with athena Dash/Call is pretty good, you can just invinc during his psins and you build up your bar so fast you can practically spam it

@@doombybbr Nah I've only gone up to 15 heat and I find it one of the easier ones as well. You just have to keep in mind to get rerolls for the shop instead of rooms ^^ Btw I fucking love how malleable the difficulty is in this game. I tried finding the sweet spot for "common runs", but the only thing I keep consistent atm is having the attack/movement speed at max all the times so I don't get complacent :P

Zeus still works well with it on attack, throw out a special while reloading to maximize efficiency. Best hammer is probably flash fire or piercing.

It's the same with plume though, and that shit is bonkers on retribution builds. They are comparatively way more useful trinkets than any of the other ones. And if you play well they will pay off well before you hit Asphodel (especially the butterfly). Personally I think Cerberus' Collar is boring, but that doesn't mean that it isn't nice that it is an option for people who just want to or need to tank a few more hits :)

@@fysean honestly pretty underwhelming in the base game, although I do remember seeing a mod that let you cook them into dishes with the chef that would apply a bonus to your next run. The buffs are actually pretty interesting too. One lets you "eat" boons for an increase in health, there's a set that basically acts like the god keepsakes, one that gives you 99 casts but doesn't let you recover them, and one that basically acts as a reverse "family favorites, which increases damage based on the number of boons you have from your highest god.
