speaking of weird ways to beat the game, I wonder whether you have ever tried the "maximum protection" run/build, which essentially collects all the (horrible) damage reduction boons: different league (Aphrodite), bronze skin (Athena), ravenous will (Demeter), high tolerance and positive outlook (Dionysus), and, of course, the absolute crown jewel: unshakable mettle (Poseidon + Athena). I would not recommend doing this on high heat (or doing it at all, frankly), but if you're looking for something that you haven't tried before, maybe give it a shot? and thank you for all your videos--they're very fun to watch!

I’ve noticed that the Greater Hellfire hammer also makes the explosion larger, so I take it whenever Triple Bomb isn’t available. I always have fun with Greater Hellfire + Triple Bomb + Zeus Special to set them off automatically

I didn't even realise the bombs radiated damage like that, and Lucifer is my one and only 32-heat win! (Zeus attack + no reload hammer)

I think the "lock-in" call boons like Poseidon and Ares are good for newer or less skilled players. They give you a moment to calm down, reposition, or get through an attack sequence or situation you find difficult. Sure, they aren't optimal, but they're safe, guaranteed damage and they serve an important role for weaker players. Plus they're pretty fun, surfing around with Uncle Poseidon or just straight buzz-sawing fools.

Oh for sure, great for people still learning the fights.

So in the dad fight, you were doing 177 per Hellfire tick and 354 per detonation. The base damage of Hellfire is 100, and the base damage of the burn tick with Greater Inferno is 50 (20 normally). Since the burn activates as soon as it hits the ground, and Greater Inferno changes the radius of the burn tick to the blast area, it basically adds a secondary blast at half the damage. Each tick you get the enemies to stay in the area is half a detonation. And with Artemis, each of those instances is another chance to crit or proc Hunter's Mark. I kinda think Greater Inferno might be the best Lucifer hammer now. Edit: I just want to clarify since I didn't make it clear, the tooltip for Greater Hellfire is misleading. Most values in Hades that say +X% are additive, meaning they always add a flat amount based on the weapon's base damage. Greater Hellfire is "multiplicative", meaning it applies after additive damage. The way damage works in Hades, this is mathematically equivalent to saying it increases the base damage by 250%. Most hammers are additive, save for the ones that 'charge', like Charged Volley or Charged Skewer. If it modifies the base damage, it will generally say "Base damage becomes X" instead. However, for some reason, Greater Hellfire doesn't behave this way, as you can see after picking up the first Artemis boon (adds +38 instead of +13). I know Hazard Bomb is also like this. I don't know if there are any other hammers or boons with misleading tooltips.

So what you are saying that Greater Hellfire is an okay Hammer upgrade for Lucifer. depending on your build and the other hammers you have on offer it might be a better pick over some of the other hammers? Not something that you should go out of your way to get unless you are trying a dedicated run just like this video. But it could help you out over some other hammers?
@PlatonicLiquid10 ай бұрын
@@wildstorm3486 Well compared to the generic Rail hammers it's probably middle of the road. Compared to the Lucifer exclusive hammers, I think it is the best. For some reason, the Lucifer hammers are basically just quality of life improvements (and conversions of the base Rail quality of life hammers). Also some of the best Rail hammers are incompatible with Lucifer. For comparison, the base Rail special has a base power of 60. If you can immediately detonate the Hellfire orbs of vanilla Lucifer, it's a base damage of 100 + 20 from the immediate burn tick. However, the burn tick radius is so small it's almost always going to be 100 unless you get a direct hit. Not only does Greater Hellfire increase this to 100 + 50 base damage, it makes the burn radius big enough to reliably hit an enemy with the first splash (you can see he is often hitting enemies outside the targeting zone). Another way to look at it: Say you have a Special boon with +150% damage (I think this is about average for a typical special build). Greater Hellfire would count as +375% damage for the burn tick. If we also assume that you're not going to reliably hit the first burn tick on the special without Greater Hellfire (again, the base radius is incredibly small), Greater Hellfire is effectively +125% to all special damage, which I think is about on par with other special hammers. This actually gets better the more special damage you have, unlike other hammers (so if you manage to get +250% special damage, its an addition +175%) It also applies this bonus damage again every second (half of the total special damage per second with the same radius). So I think it's actually pretty great for Lucifer, and about middle for the Rail. Obviously it's going to be outcompeted by Hazard Bomb or Rocket Bomb + Cluster Bomb. EDIT: I forgot to add, I think the optimal way to play with Greater Hellfire is to detonate the orbs immediately as you would normally. You always get the first tick of damage if you hit, and it is a noticeable boost as I discussed. Playing around with trying to use the the burn ticks is not worth it DPS-wise in most situations (unless the enemy is stationary)

29:14 "you can't make the enemies stand on them" And that's the reason why I wished you chose Targeting System instead of Triple Bomb in Elysium haha. Enemies move slower? Not exactly the same, but I would've loved to see the differences anyways.

In regards to putting zeus special on the Lucifer Rail; the lightning strike will actually instantly detonate the flare after landing. It deals surprisingly ok damage overall as you get the damage from the initial aoe of the flare, the lightning strike, and the flare detonation.

This was a fun run lol. I actually really love when you meet "Win More" conditions. Like, I want to o b l i t e r a t e Hades when we reach him lol. Like, Heroic Deadly Flourish, Clean Kill, Chaos Special damage, with a Cluster-Rocket build hahaha. Though there's also something fun watching you try to take on all three phases with a putrid build.

Searing Inferno: Your Igneus Eden Hellfire no longer detonates and instead disappears after 8 sec, but it radiates +75% faster in a larger area. (Numbers could be tweaked for balance.) I was initially just thinking double the damage bonus, but other commenters suggested the increased pulse speed instead, which I like because it actually makes the mechanic look and feel even more substantially different. It also might somewhat mitigate the effect of enemies not spending enough time in range, especially with stacking status effects on the special. I think preventing the bombs from despawning would make the hammer too overpowered (especially in combo with triple bomb) since you could just throw out a bunch of bombs and then it would become an idle game. I'm not sure it works the way you said though, I've definitely had more than 3 bombs out at a time (albeit with triple bomb). My main problem with lucy hellfire builds is that it's difficult for me to detonate the bombs with the attack beam, because the aim assist locks onto enemies but not the bombs, and as a keyboard-only player, that basically forces me to get the bomb in a semicardinal direction from me. This would be pretty easy to fix, but then for certain builds you might want to _avoid_ detonating the bombs, so there's no universal solution.

My only complaint about the epilogue was that it was a bit of an anticlimax. We just kinda have all the Olympians over for drinks and explain it all and... everyone's fine with this? Like, it kinda felt like there maybe could've been a fight against, I dunno, Demeter or something (she's definitely meant to be one of the more dangerous Olympians, alongside Ares). Obviously that's more work for the devs, who already put together a crazy good game, just kinda how I felt about it.

Skelly tricked me into maxing Zag sword, which is honestly pretty good. A lot of the Zag aspects (like bow and fists) are surprisingly great to upgrade and much cheaper than investing in the more interesting ones.

honestly just make the ahmmer prevent the big boom but pulse faster. like no explosion but it pulses say 33% faster and keep the normal damage amount.

Hmm, faster is an idea. I was thinking just double the damage bonus, but that might feel cheap as a way to make it stronger, especially if you get it in tartarus.

The problem with relying on getting a hermes boon for your gimmick run to work is that you won't know if it works until sometime in asphodel. Not sure this run _wouldn't_ work without it, but that's just my reaction to the concept.

Zeus is good if you want detonation, since the lightning strike will set off the special. But if you want pulses then it's not a good choice because the first pulse sets off the bomb.
