Thank you Shawna. I finally had a design on a tshirt take off and I doubled down on it. Then I put it on another product and that took off. It was a lower profit item so I made my first group listing with hopes of multiple purchases. First sale was for 3 items! So excited. Thanks for all your tips and encouragement!

Thank you, Shawna, as always! I am getting closer (literally by the day) to my first 100 sales, and I've decided that next year is the year that I go mainstream with designs like the ones you're describing, as well as doubling down. I've been too "artsy" I think, trying to get people to like/want the stuff I like, and though it works on occasion, I know I'm leaving a lot on the table. So, it's time for a change. And as for doubling down, I'm finally taking that more seriously, too. In fact, I've sold one ornament 11 times, and I just made a mug version of that design at noon. 6 hours later, I've got my first favorite for that mug! This is a design I almost didn't even list cuz I though it was kinda cheesy, but it's the most popular thing I've ever made. So, I am LISTENING to what people actually want. Great reminders and examples. Sending you a huge virtual hug!

You're not at all weird for feeling this way. It's the reason why I never listed any BHM shirts before. If feel like if you're making shirts at all for a specific cause or minority group, it would at least make sense to donate to the proceeds, not keep all the income for profit. I'm saying this as a white person. I also think that black people would WANT to support black businesses, especially for this event.

Great video Shawna! Can I ask how do you go about determining whether to put a design on a shirt or sweatshirt? For instance with the bridal/bachelorette niche. I struggle with this being a newer shop with not many sales yet. I would love to have the design on both in my shop but I don't want to spend too much time doing that until I see the design has sales..

Hey there! Thanks for enjoying this one! Love that you are aware of this! I always start with shirts and then add it to a sweatshirt if it starts to get some traction. I do most of my research in shirts and I feel like I am faster at listing them too. So that is why I do it that way. I hope this helps!

This featured shop it looks like they have more of a 3D type of printing? Isn’t it why they do so well? It’s not original what they sell in my opinion just wondering if the style of printing isn’t giving them the edge? Worth trying it though definitely! I am new to apparel I still don’t realise how much demand is in this! lol I keep thinking small.

Hey there Kat! Oh gosh! I had so many examples to choose from and for the sake of time went with that! After I started to put the video together I wished I had chosen another shop! LOL I was afraid people might think success had to be puffy print! Sure! I think that has really helped them stand out! BUT there are so many shops doing super well with regular DTG printing like we use with POD! It is soooooo scalable! Hope this helps Kat!
