You may try a gun safe heater under the water tank in the ground instead of in the tank maybe a 15 watt would not burn its self up and keep the water from freezing so fast . Maybe two of them and bury the wire. Edit: May try feeding the quack pack in front of there shed and in it .

Since Leiski removed the plug for you already, run wire thru a piece of PVC pipe or armored flex conduit (flex conduit is easier to route to tank) to shield it and replace plug with new one... Anchor conduit to fence post so you can rotate the PVC/conduit to get tub out to clean it out. We did this with the horses to keep them from nibbling the water feed hose to the tank. We don't need heaters here in southern AZ. (the lowest temp we've had here at night this winter so far was 41F)

@vegasbattleborn15943 жыл бұрын
I was going to suggest 1/2" or 3/4" EMT with a short junction of sealtight (flex plastic conduit) to the tank. Less destructible less that he could chew through.

Here in Canada many have block heaters for cars, to keep the engine warm so it starts. My friends lab crewed the cord for the block heater when it was plugged in, she did not even notice. They could not figure out why the car did not start in the morning as they had plugged it in the night before. Then they noticed the cord. Its a dog thing, especially when still a puppy.

I feel your pain with the pup chewing things. My 1 year old, black lab/pit bull/beagle mix, chews EVERYTHING. She's chewed my glasses, hubby's glasses, numerous shoes, anything plastic, too many pillows to count... Everything has to be up where she can't get it. She has chew toys out the wazoo, has torn up so many stuffies, it's insane.

For the water you could look for a reptile pad or a plant heating pad event that could go under the water tank. When it’s going to freeze you could just plug it in. It’s basically just a heating pad that you would put under the plastic tank it would just add a little heat to the water but sitting under the water tank with a cord going out of the middle in the back leesky couldn’t get to it.

I’d put the tarp back up on the big doorway. It lets a ton of cold air in. There’s plenty of ventilation from the smaller slider door you put in and some open spots around the bottom of the barn.

For the water trough in Leesky’s pen, try a piece of pvc with an elbow curve to put the cord through. He wouldn’t be able to chew through it so easily and maybe lose interest in it.
@TheMrsEmpty3 жыл бұрын
LOL, I was just about to say the same thing. PVC or even regular large diameter plumber pipe in case the dog decides PVC is also a chew toy challenge. Then shallow bury it if needed. Option B: staple the cord to the back side of some boards and fasten them to the fence away from the pen area. Out of sight, out of mind.

Kevin, maybe you could get some PVC pipe/tubing, and a few fittings, trim the plug end off of a heater, run the cord through the PVC, and arrange it where Leeskee won't chew it? You can get a weatherproof cord end to replace the one you cut off, and also, this might allow you to eliminate extra cordage that could become a chew toy! I know all too well about pet kiddos chewing things... I have two 13 year old male house cats (Brothers) and both will still chew any indoor cords if they are given the chance... Y'all stay warm and well, be safe!

Take your heater wire through a piece of conduit say 1 1/2 “ 90^ large enough to allow a electric plug through. Also drill a small hole in the conduit above the water line to prevent siphoning the water out of the container.
