I find it very hard to teach Guard retention, because in my opinion you have to understand the concepts of it instead of teaching only moves. You did a great job on that, i would love to see more of your concepts. The biceps frame is genius after he passed your hip line because you prevent yourself from losing the head position after you lost the lower body battle and the rest is also amazing. Thank you Brian!

💯 concepts are much harder to learn than techniques. thanks for your support!

Thank you Coach Glick, that torreondo/bull fighters pass is very annoying to deal with esp from the bigger guys.

Seven years of weak rentention, while all my other areas are grappling sound and strong. Watching this video, I have finally found it, the best retention system that meets my need. Little adjustment for me , tell me what you think: (hard to explain with words) , I put my outside leg on his hips, and one hand, really annoying hand on the back of his head. That hand on his back head isn't nice at all, it really messes with their thinking. I also hold his elbow, , the other leg I use to move around as they force the entry cause guys are stubborn here. Results: I can retain much, much ,longer, before decide to recover guard, or get up. Guys hate when I retention this way.

Thx a lot. I always have problems with guard retention. Q: With this kind of stiff arm posting I am always paranoid of getting accidentally wristlocked if my opponent does some jerky rolls with the upper body /shoulder. Do you have a recommendation for the hand placement?

Is there much reverse engineering with these tactics for the Gi?
@bzglick3 жыл бұрын
The principles hold across both gi and no-gi 👍

what if he has a pant grip on your far leg?
@bzglick3 жыл бұрын
Pant grip on the far leg can be a pain, but it won’t stop you from bringing your near-side knee in to start the process of recovering the guard. Once you square up you can start the grip break process
