IRONMAN and Guardian Revival Champion, Sam Norman successfully completed the IRONMAN Florida in Panama City Beach in November 2021 to raise money for Guardian Revival's veteran mental health programs, Boots & Paws, Encore, and Another Summit.
We're pleased to announce that Sam raised a total of $65K throughout his journey to becoming an IRONMAN, exceeding our goal of $50K by $15K!
The temperature was 45 degrees Fahrenheit when Sam began his 2.4-mile swim in the ocean. Following the swim, he battled headwinds for over 6 hours for 112 miles of biking only to finish up with a full marathon (26.2 miles).
Some of the world's most famous professional IRONMAN racers reported that this particular swim was the most challenging IRONMAN swim they've ever competed in due to strong currents and high winds.
Sam: You are a true patriot. The money you raised will directly change the lives of both military & first responder veterans who have sacrificed so much for our nation's safety and security and are struggling with mental health issues as a result.
Guardian Revival is a New York State 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization chartered to revive and preserve the mental health and wellbeing of veterans and first responders - our guardians - at no cost to them.
Our programs include Boots & Paws and Another Summit, which provide guardians with (free!) opportunities to be awarded companion or service dogs and to engage in outdoor adventure activities, like free public hikes and backpacking retreats in the Hudson Valley Region of New York.
