Did the shafts zig zag down for a reason? Or was it a case that ore was being followed down to the lower levels?

+davusp zigzag because it was the original manway pre shaft that is also located on site, so lode followed as well.

This mine seems quite dry. At what depth would you reach the water table?

We cant get below 180 feet due to blockage but think it would go further but a lot of digging required.
