Emily Maitlis has said an 'active agent of the Conservative party' is 'acting as the arbiter of BBC impartiality'.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV festival, Maitlis criticised the broadcaster for being too close to the Tory party, highlighting the role of Sir Robbie Gibb, who worked as Theresa May's communications chief and played a role in founding the rightwing news channel GB News. The former Newsnight presenter said the broadcaster went out of its way to 'pacify' No 10 after she criticised Dominic Cummings for his breach of lockdown rules during the pandemic.

well said Emily To put into context, The BBC is currently headed by a former Conservative councillor, regulated by a Conservative Peer, chaired by a Conservative Party donor, and whose CEO is the partner of the Conservative Director of Communications. Robbie Gibb was in charge of the BBC Political output during the time of Referendum and is well known as a hard Brexiteer. He is one of the people who was involved in the set up of GB News. The BBC goes well out of its way to avoid any mentions of Brexit as being a contributing factor to the issues we are experiencing.

They did not question Margaret Ferrier of the SNP when she traveled by train to WM being COVID POSITIVE. In addition to ensuring diversity when hiring according to protected characteristic such as race, gendre. religion etc, maybe we should also ensure that political diversity is accounted for, especially amongst the BBC's management and governance positions?
