Stretching along the Guayas River is the waterfront Simón Bolívar promenade, home to La Rotonda monument. In the north, Las Peñas is a neighborhood full of colorful houses. I’m going back to Ecuador after 45 years. I was there as an LDS missionary in the mid 70s. It appears that a lot has changed. Great foot walk travelogue of good old Guayaquil!

When you go to Cuenca or Ambato or Riobamba, in the Sierra de Ecuador, you will fall in love with the food and its fruits and juices, the sweets and breads, it is amazing the people of the mountains, they are very friendly.. I recommend you go to the cities I mentioned
