This made me want to rewatch Guddi. Jaya Bhaduri does a similar “sunshine girl” counterpart in Milli, in a darker movie with Amitabh which is also lovely. Shabana Azmi haa talked about how she used to look up to Jaya when entering films, and Jaya Bacchan was a pioneer in realistic acting for Bollywood actresses. That’s also why her stepping away from the movies while Amitabh’s star kept rising, is quite sad on some level - something that was played up in Abhimaan sharply and beautifully in that tussle of ego between spouses. So glad i grew up watching Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee movies in the 90s

I knew you wouldn't get it. Aaja re was a very famous song from Madhumati. In the movie they even say that she will be singing the song from this movie. So it wasn't an original song at all. Hrishikesh Mukherjee had assisted in that movie so he had no trouble re-using that song in Guddi

A very long time ago, the journalist Jai Arjun Singh, who you should really try to get on to discuss more Hrishikesh Mukherjee films, wrote the following on his blog - “I think all those scenes in Guddi are from actual movies being filmed around the same time. The Amitabh scene is from Parwana, the Shatrughan Sinha-Vinod Khanna one is from Mere Apne” It was a really fun bit of trivia, and I was wondering if any of you caught that aspect. On a related note, it would be fun to get one of those blogger-era reviewers to discuss older movies, Baradwaj Rangan for instance. Or Anupama Chopra to revisit VVC’s lesser known movies such as Khamosh or Kareeb.

Gucci had classic actors in guest appearances like Dilip kumar, Mala sinha, and biswajeet from ( Phir kab milogi ) Rajesh khanna amitabh bachchan from ( Parwana )

I think Urjita might be referring to Ranjeet. If I am not mistaken, he mentioned in one of his interviews about people assuming him to be a real life villain based on the characters he used to play in movies. But that was true for most of the iconic villains of our movies 😂😂

The minimum legal age for marriage was increased to 18 from 15 for girls in 1978. This movie came out in 1971. So, I think the movie did age well, as HM didn't show them getting married, even though legally, he could.

For a film podcast, the amount of research that these guys do is very little. The great man who composed the music for this film had already done that for legendary films such as Do Aankhen Baarah Haath and Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje among others. And Abbas had the gall to call Vasant Desai a newcomer (as a music composer) in Guddi! This is beyond ridiculous! If, after so many episodes, the two ‘cinephiles’ who host the show come up with such factual inaccuracies on a consistent basis, it’s high time IVM hired a researcher to help them, or better still, replaced them altogether.
