Technically, Gasly drove for the same team as Renault (albeit as Alpine). Same with Button and Mercedes (albeit as Honda and Brawn)
@davidpanken19 күн бұрын
Technically, no.
@Pokemonmaster150b19 күн бұрын
@davidpanken To be fair, it's tough to tell since some people think that team lineages are the same team despite rebrandings (e.g. Renault and Alpine, Tyrell and Mercedes, Toro Rosso and VCARB, Stewart and Red Bull), whereas others consider them different teams entirely.

Technically speaking the Lotus Kovalainen drove for is not the same lotus as Kimi’s

doesn't make sens : Gasly drive for Alpine which is Renault, Button for Brawn which is Mercedes so they are impostors but Hulk never actually drove for AM but for RP

he drove for AM at the start of 2021

Alpine is not the same as Renault. Same as Honda and Brawn not being the same as Mercedes. They may have the same people and staff, but the team name is different, so technically they didn’t race for the team. Seb tested positive at the start of 2022 and Nico replaced him, racing in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia for Aston Martin. And yes, he also raced for Racing Point (in 2020), at Silverstone and the Nürburgring. So yes, it does make sense.

If If Ocon counts for force India then gasly counts for Renault as both joining in rebrands as it was racing point and alpine is still Renault

Ocon drove for Force India in 2017. Gasly never drove for Renault.

With button it’s a technicality as Brawn GP became Mercedes.

It wasn’t Mercedes team though… they just supplied the engines.

@@jordanblair4077 Mercedes bought the brawn GP team for 2010. Like hi red bull purchased jaguar in 2004. Or how loutus f1 bought and sold the team from and to Renault.

@@munaclassic4020 I don’t understand what your point is? Button never drove for Mercedes. He drove for Brawn in 2009 and McLaren in 2010. End of story.
@munaclassic402010 ай бұрын
@@jordanblair4077 I am saying buying a team is like relocating a sports franchise. It’s still the same team just under new management so by that brawn is different ownership of the Mercedes team. I can say kimi raced for the Renault team as his lotus days were the same team different sponsors.
@jordanblair407710 ай бұрын
@@munaclassic4020 No, you cannot. He drove for “Lotus F1”. The same way Button drove for “Brawn GP”. It doesn’t matter who owned the team, it wasn’t called “Renault”, “Mercedes”, etc.
