As someone who travels a lot, I can confirm that Hattie B's is, in fact, a chain. A small chain, yes. However, Josh is thinking about their very specific iconic location in Nashville. However, I've also been able to pick them up in Alabama and North Carolina. Many assume they are the pioneers of Nashville Hot Chicken, but that is in fact, not true. Prince's Hot Chicken was the true original, and this debate of Prince's vs. Hattie B's rages on to this day. But, having known some locals, the truth is most people I talked to prefer nashville hot chicken-adjacent foods, like nashville hot mac and cheese (which I didn't get to try), or my personal favorite, nashville hot chicken pizza, which is actually in a town 30 minutes away from Nashville, called Lebanon.
