If that is slovenian then I´m the pope. Im Slovenian and that is not our language in any way!? We don´t use y ever, we however use Š Č Ž .Maybe if you used google transate, you would get that. Slovenian language: Mislm da nimaš pojma o jezikih in še slovenec ne bi ugotovil da je to slovenščina.

I think it’s true, because I am learning Slovene, and even though I am beginner level, that sentence didn’t look like Slovene to me, and I don’t think Slovene has words like by with y, so I think it was in Slovak - I am also upper advanced level in Dutch and advanced level in Norwegian and upper intermediate level in Icelandic and Norse and German, and that sentence was in Norwegian, not Danish, I mean, I am not sure if that sentence would be exactly the same in Danish, but it is how one says it in Norwegian, and hyggelig means nice in Norwegian!

I like your vids but you have mins. 2 mistakes here: 1) The sentence in 3:53 is in Norwegian, not in Danish. I learned Norwegian and I understand all the words in this sentence. It is: "I'm gald to meet you." or "Nice to meet you." 2) The sentence in 6:11 is in Slovak, not in Slovenian. I'm Czech and I speak Slovak on fluent level. The sentence is: "Would You dance with me?"

For anyone who might potentially be confused for the last one : The key (at least to me) is the double "c". You might have a double consonant in Spanish if it's actually pronounced differently, but something like "bocca" wouldn't be different from "boca", and in this case, Spanish wouldn't have that double consonant in writing. Italian, on the other hand, does pronounce double consonants differently from single consonants, so they have them in writing more often. Also, it's always sad to see someone confuse the Cyrillic alphabet and the Greek alphabet. They're actually very different when you take the time to compare them (and by "time", I mean a few minutes), which a lot of people unfortunately don't do. Yes, there are similarities, and I understand how a layperson might be confused, but there are also some obvious differences, like certain letters/shapes existing in one but not existing in the other one. The two alphabets are also more similar in uppercase than lowercase, so comparing what lowercase letters look like in both is also valuable. If you're into language quizzes or Geoguessr, you should really study this. Might save your ass a few times.
@IceHax
@IceHax 8 ай бұрын
Yeah it's annoying when they don't recognize those alphabets lol. It's also easy to recognize some Cyrillic languages if you know how to do transliteration, украинец sounds more gentle and with less consonants than Русский
@patviravouth867
@patviravouth867 8 ай бұрын
I was thinking the exact same thing. The last guy sounds like a native Spanish speaker and he couldn't tell that "bocca" was spelt differently to "boca"? Therefore even if he didn't know what language it was, he should've known that it was at least not Spanish. Spanish is not even my 1st language and I don't even speak Italian and I know this.
@Mercure250
@Mercure250 8 ай бұрын
@@IceHax For Ukrainian, I usually look for letters that don't exist in Russian, like "і". I'm not the best at distinguishing Cyrillic languages, but I can at least differentiate Slavic vs non-Slavic, and when I'm lucky, I can see some letters being different or used in ways they wouldn't be in Russian. I think this is more advanced, though, so I don't blame people for failing to distinguish them. I just think it's sad when they get the whole alphabet wrong to begin with.

Did she say Konkista at 1:21? I'm guessing she meant to say Konkani, but that language is from the western coast of India, not Pakistan. Also the sentence at 6:14 is Slovak, not Slovenian! Within the Slovene language, the letter y is only found in foreign words! By in Slovak means would but would in Slovenian is bi! The sentence at 3:48 is Norwegian, not Danish! Deg is you in Norwegian, while dig means you in Danish. And there is such thing as Standard Tibetan, also known as Lhasa Tibetan, and it is the official language of the Tibet Autonomous Region. For those wondering, "S’ha acabat el bròquil" is an expression that literally means "There is no broccoli left" and this is the Catalan way of saying that the jig is up, they're calling someone out on their deceptive mischief! "Meter a pata na poça" literally means "stick your paw in the puddle" and it means you're making a mistake. The Hungarian one "Nem kolbászból van a kerítes" literally means "the fence is not made of sausage" and is the classic expression that money doesn't grow on trees! And "sentir la sapin" literally means "smell like fir wood" and this is meant to smell like death because coffins are traditionally made of wood!

But there are MANY languages that use Cyrillic and IDK very many people who can read South Asian scripts and the average person probably can't read Cyrillic either. He should have written the Latin letters underneath so they could at least know how it sounds and give them a more fair shot at guessing.

Great episode, good job! I think it would be great to see this type of video, but with the same sentence (maybe a bit longer than idioms here) in different languages :) Or let people guessing till they make mistake, so they can win more money :D
