That drop-ride brought my trauma back. If you don't want the full story past the Read More I went on a ride at our yearly fair and I nearly slipped out of my harness despite telling people it wasn't safe. Nobody listened until someone else got hurt. I went on a roller coaster I feared back when I was still in highschool. It's a popular one; perfect vertical loop- The Fireball. I feared being upside down and every year we went to the fair I avoided it like the plague. Finally one year my cousin came with me and got me to do it. *I still regret it to this day.* I gave my glasses to my dad before getting on and I'm very near sighted so I could see colors and blurred BLURRED shapes. What it does, for those not aware, is it goes in the circle. It can go slow or fast but typically it pauses once at the top, while you're upside down. I'll admit- while I'm not explicitly fat I've got a bit of a wideness and a belly. Not anything to cause like safety concerns mind you but I was pudgy. They put me into this seat and I don't hear something click like I heard for my cousin who was sat beside me. I am asking them to check it again and they ignore me and start the ride. We get about 3 spins of nausea in and I feel something give. One of the bottom buckles holding the harness down onto me came undone. Each time we went upside down my roughly 180-200 pound body went limp into the harness. I called for help, I cried to my cousin- NOBODY BELIEVED ME AND NOBODY STOPPED THE RIDE. Eventually it got to that part where you go upside down and you STAY there? I was dangling. My back wasn't touching anything, I had one vice grip on my cousin and one at the base of the harness to keep it from flying open. I locked my shoulders so hard I had neck issues for a few hours afterwards and I was wailing and begging. The ride came to an end and I left sobbing. My dad had noticed and tried to report them to the safety administrators but apparently the ride had been checked just an hour ago and was cleared. 2 hours later after I had calmed down and had eaten we looped back to the rides? The Fireball was shut down and there was a ambulance, a poor kid on a stretcher. I never followed up on it and I hope the kid was okay.
