Not so fun fact: Japanese citizenship is exclusive, so in order for a foreigner to become a Japanese citizen she has to renounce any and all other citizenships she may have. That is a strict requirement.
@TayoEXE
@TayoEXE Жыл бұрын
@@fjelbuont8762 Other fun fact: citizenship recognition is based on each country's point of view. This may be the case for foreigners trying to get citizenship, but for Japanese that have Japanese and American citizenship but have to give up one from the Japan side, it's worth it to give up the American citizenship to keep the Japanese one, but the U.S. recognizes dual citizenship, and Japan doesn't really care to actually check or enforce it from their side since you did give it up from their side. Nick however can receive permanent residency and no longer need a visa, etc., if he were to live there for a least a year or so and apply for it. (It may depend on your visa while you apply, but I'm going back on a spouse visa, so I'm aiming for the same thing)

Tracking down obscure retro tech or games by going to tons of second hand stores in Japan is really satisfying to watch. It’s always more fun when what you’re looking for is personal or nostalgic to you. I am a fan of Crash Bandicoot, and have a few of the Japanese versions of the main series of games. The covers are fun and very different, and it’s always interesting to see the differences in game. You could also look for big the cat merchandise, he’s a funny fella

I know you probably won’t see this, but I used to live in Japan and I can recommend one of the most amazing places in the country. Akiyoshidō Cave. It’s the largest cave in Japan, it’s amazing to walkthrough, and when you get to the end there is an elevator you can take up that leads to some massive rolling planes, it’s just mostly flat rolling fields of golden (wheat?) and it doesn’t even feel like Japan because of how flat, empty, and non-mountainous it is. Amazing place and I’d love to see a video on it if you’re interested in it

@@chileanywayssso Actually I've heard that English isn't prioritized as much in Japan as it is in other countries. It's of course common place in Tokyo and other major cities because of the tourism, but outside of there, English proficiency isn't that strong with a lot of people. I've been watching TAKASHI From Japan who interviews foreigners about this, and also has insight of his own from, you know, being Japanese. You could absolutely survive there if you visit, but if you're going to live or spend an extended period of time, you'll probably need to start trying to learn the language.

@fluffypink90
@fluffypink90 Жыл бұрын
Most modern consumer electronics will have no trouble running at either frequency - you can check the labels on what you own, it will be listed. Devices with AC motors would run at different speeds, but should be able to be designed to run safely on either frequency. Everthing after this point is speculation, I'm just an armchair electrician In an industrial setting, a lot of stuff would need to be frequency-specific, such as AC motors, the speed of which is determined by the frequency of the supply. That said, a lot of motors in such settings are now driven by affordable variable frequency drives (VFDs), which should be able to take either input frequency. If you're setting up a factory, you're probably not going to pick the whole thing up and move it to the other side of the country, but it would make the markets for second-hand industrial gear a bit smaller. I imagine the main problem it would present in the modern day would be interconnection of the two grids, which would be very difficult to achieve in significant capacity.

@@DANNY__JK Televisions in Japan can natively display 50hz or 60hz signals without missing a beat. It's kind of weird, as I've played some games in PAL mode without even knowing it, since my TV here gave me absolutely no guff about it. Japanese broadcasts and digital encoding are all natively 60hz, though, so it's a bit weird that Japanese TVs are so accommodating of 50hz signals.

This is a ticket essentially which allow any person to ride any JR trains (excluding the shinkansen etc.,) in Japan. Some people try out how far one person can travel with a single ticket (can buy at a ticket shop [JR sells it but its in a bundle so need to buy from a ticket shop for a single day pass] for around 25 dollars) and while it can be quite difficult, you can go to Hiroshima from Tokyo with just this ticket. Though is very tiring, a fun thing to do with friends.

Honestly I'd be interested to see how different VR is in Japan vs the States. I've heard it's really different there...

I would love to see regular American restaurants and stores but how they look in Japan, for example all the stuff being sold in the 7/11 and the phone booth was wild lol

Neat! Now I know which hotel to go to when I visit Japan. Love that big space.

Those booths are becoming a thing in big corporations also. I've worked at two companies that have them outside of Japan, but they're not paid to use. The ventilation can get a bit stuffy during the summer months 😅

I had a feeling you went to Japan. And for some reason, I would like to know the least used Shinkansen station in all of Japan. And within that station’s town, what’s the best thing you can find.

this is not really a pressing issue but i’m wondering about what you just said concerning a lack of quiet places to go in japan. i’m a library student, and i wonder if a japanese public library would have something? where i am (usa) there’s always quiet rooms you can reserve for free. maybe japanese libraries are different?

This is a completely selfish request but perhaps if this sounds like an interesting misadventure, I would be forever indebted to you if you tracked down an LP of From Still to the Birth by 3dl (San Decilitre) from 1987, which is currently my collecting white whale; cheers Nick
