I think the changes are great....no more squads with a assault weapons running around like they're Space Marines. Less soft skin battlefield taxis, with some poor old truck driver having to deliver an assault squad right up to the enemy....MMG teams being more useful especially at dishing out pins (no long range or cover effecting hitting)....more likely to see AT guns again like MMGs very important in WW2.....and reducing all the MMG shots from tanks again, shouldn't be dishing out the same as a tripod mounted MMG.....(all those early war tanks people were using in their late war lists will be less common) ....I think they've given just a touch more realism to the game, without compromising what makes Bolt Action fun. 👍👍

Hi Bo, if I was putting a competitive US team together and for my personal games I'm leaning into the use of HMGs for the US and medium mortars with spotters. In my first game of V3 I used a HMG team to completely pin down German armored car that +1 Pen and now 6 shots on Regular armored vehicles is a game changer. I've even just got a M51 to see if I can use that to control a side of a table or a useful line of sight.

I think your on point, especially for wow24. The german flak zwiling and fierling are going to mow down infantry, and vehicles like the T60 will be the new dakka tanks. Best of luck with the interview!

Indeed. My lone Zwilling is now bumped to 6 of them for 3rd ed, hoping to break the system.....

I think that multiple small tanks will be worth it in this edition. You can take like 5 8+ armour tanks now under 600 points what gives you room for a lot of infantry and order dices in the infantry platoon.

My Germans will now feature full spam mmg teams and 2 FLakverling 38s and a Wirblewind. So, yeah, autocannons and mmgs are going to be a thing I'm sure.

Yeah I'm personally frustrated with V.3, its either nerfed my army list a bit or made everyone else's play style more likely to be like mine in 2nd ed. For example... 1. I always used Germans. With 'Snap to' I used to Alpha- strike an enemy unit and then Snap To to get the units out of the way next turn 2. I always relied on range and cover to dissuade shooting at key units (same for everyone with his rule I guess) 3. I always took trucks with MMGs on as a mobile MG unit and would have between 3 and 5 per army list, even in 700pts. 4. I always saw the officer as an opportunity for another small combat team that would put the pins out, and relied on many of my opponents either wasting the dice because they saw it as an unfair tax, or would keep theirs at 2 guys to get the small team -1 that was in V.2. 5. I always took heavy autocannons due to their range and relied on the -1 long range modifier to out-shoot opponents 6. I always took small squads of usually 6 guys with rifles to get maximum pins output between them and the trucks, and nearly reliably would pin-out a couple of enemy units per game 7. Similalry I always relied on an opponent taking bigger chunkier squads which were in effect a points sink, giving me the dice advantage. 8. I rarely took weapons small teams whereas my opponents often would take PIATs or snipers or something, I always found them all to be a waste more often than not. 9. I always piled pins on key units to ensure they were totally ineffective, but now with a meagre -1 maximum two-hit penalty for pins and the that officers easily bump they morale up it makes more sense to go for straight kills or to spread pins around so that as many units as possible are likely to effected by the -1 I guess I'll have to adapt and survive as we all will. To be fair Bo is changing his whole army and subsequent unit choices, I likely will stay as Germans and will just bump the numbers of key units up now that we have the platoon/ Company structure Looking forward to seeing the outcome of WoW. I was to be in the Northern Ireland Team but sadly couldn't commit to it, this year ..... 👊😘

With Artillery Platoons, being able to say "I'm hitting you with a Medium or Heavy Howitzer on a 4. Sure, you'll get a Cover Save. But your Infantry aren't moving anywhere this turn," and that's pretty good.

Locally people are dialing in on 16 dice on the high end. Taking veteran infantry. No one has rocked up with 20 dice yet, and I think once they do there will be a really big shift as everyone has to respond.

+1AP spam [HMG, Light Mortars, HMG Tankettes -- still cheaper than HMGs]; +2AP spam [AT rifle/autocannon]; double forward observers with double shots backed by regular mortar pits and multipurpose artillery and tanks (Zis3, 25pdrs, su76i...); soviet scouts -- infiltrator spam; and probably see an attempt at death stars with veteran 11+ armor (or just 9+) tanks that can laugh off all the low AP spam and finally, pure infantry to make enemy pts spent on anti-armor units go to waste. I would also expect recce. Or, at least, I don't understand why you don't give them any value. In V2 you always seemed excited at the idea of troops transports with recce. Not now? You don't want your LVT with autocannon recce? The officer can stay onboard now too, run the guns, and still have his aura and snap-tos. Sounds yummy to me. [ED: rolled manhunt for my first game and my officer in recce vehicle was untouchable; my opponent had nothing to chase him with. Manhunt, I realize, is not a likely tournament scenario but thought I'd add].

With Germans having to take a defecated command vehicle like a 223 I can see German etc armoured platoons being dropped altogether.

A regular German tank can be upgraded to the role as well for 10pts
