Cheetah has closed solid spots (typically 2 main colors), leopard has spots that have a border around them, usually need dark contrasting color and sometimes they're open ( typically 2-3 colors). Cheetah spots look similar to polka dots and leopard spots look similar to the letter "C".

Cheetah print is similar to leopard print but not identical. Its beige hue is lighter than leopard print, and the spots are closed and look more like polka-dots than rosettes.
