Quite a family of Battles. Pure eye-candy. Thank you Jim, for bringing Frank, Todd and their fantastic craftsmanship out to the world.
@retirementOwl9 жыл бұрын
Interesting Fact: Frank originally finished this Battle is a lighter color configuration which can be seen on his Instagram page. The mokuti was a light blue and the bolsters were also a lighter shade. Abe wanted it darkened and Frank was reluctant, but damn it turned out sweet. Frank is a mad genius who is defining what knife perfection is. Abe is very gracious, cool and lucky guy. Thanks Jim for making this available for everyone to see!

Steven Cheshire Very true, except it was me doing all the prodding to get the blue to this color. ;-) Abe was kind of on the fence, I pushed him over LOL

The way he matched the grain from the bolsters to the scales reminds me of a master woodworker, the attention to detail is amazing. I hope that knife is so far out of my price range that I can forget about buying one. I'm going to Franks website next. Pray for me.

I love how the Damascus pattern almost perfectly matches the flow of the Timascus pattern at bolster seam.
@fuzzuck9 жыл бұрын
Absolute perfection. Your 'Battle' definitely has a more practical size in terms of carry, but for a knife like that, Timascus and Damascus, dubbed the 'King Battle', that size seems equally appropriate. The 'Battle' and the Todd Fischer 'Archangel' are pretty much the epitome of 'grail' knives. It really doesn't get any better; owning one is something to be proud of, and your friend is a lucky dude indeed to own two... including one that almost demands an adjective like 'glorious'. Great video.

@knifeman11229 жыл бұрын
What makes the knife more pricey. The materials, designer or the time to make it??
@robdeskrd4 жыл бұрын
Designer is the main factor with full customs, materials vs work invested could go either way....... This knife is made out of quite expensive materials but that also increase it takes careful consideration to get the most out of those materials and you gotta be careful to not fuck it up cause the materials are not masses produced (Timascus is a brand name made by 1 guy) but mostly you are paying for the time of someone who work is HIGHLY sought after- People are happy to wait years on this guy's books and with up front deposits but these are the kind of guys who invent construction techniques and even make their own screws (full custom). A knife like this sells for like $7500...... I dont have that kind of money but I understand why people who do pay it, like Jim here- Frank Fisher, Stan Wilson, Tony Marfione, Gavin Hawk, ECT. are the people who a expanding the craft of knife making and I understand & agree with the idea of supporting human genius. I have a lot of appreciation for the true connoisseur collectors, the Jay Lenos, Jim Skeltons, who have the money to support the artists and the passion to do all this documentary work as well cause Jim started this channel on top of his career and family life and the videos aren't even half the work he did it for love of the craft, notice the lack of advertising in his videos and I can geeking out on hardcore knife with a guy who's taste never disappoints.

Those knobs are way out of my league the most expensive knife I ever had is a $500 knife it was a SOG limited edition with The San Mai lll steel and the fylde backspacer in the titanium and I believe bone scales it was beautiful those knots you show they're just immaculate but I would like to have him a little simplified but the exact same design and shape! I also recently bought the SOG with CPM S30V blade that has the harpoon type shape recurve blade but I'm a little disappointed in it mostly the blade geometry I had to really take a lot of Steel off of it to make it really take an edge off the front.
@dacathey9 жыл бұрын
Really beautiful. I would never sell mine but adding a "big booty" would be nice. They just seem to get better and better with each one he builds. That is definitely a King Battle.
