Dr. Gordon, I have recently read your collaborative work on "Writing and Correcting a Torah Scroll in Germany of the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Centuries" on Research-Gate. XRF technology is very interesting. The research of the different ink types was fascinating. Particularly when the results revealed the blank "spaces" left by scribe 1, and then filled in with Gd's name by scribe 2. I have also read an abstract of your dissertation on The Writing, Erasure, and Correction of the Tetragrammaton in Medieval Hebrew Bible Manuscripts on Academia. I am curious if you have conducted or planned to conduct any research studies using Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI)? I understand that RTI is conventionally utilized for research analysis of clay tablets or an engraved, embossed or carved image of some sort. However, I am curious to know just how useful this technology might prove to be in revealing and "illuminating" hidden or underwritten text that might have been overwritten, corrected, or erased?
