Most christians don't read the bible themselves I guess. The stories from the bible the get read are just a small fraction of it. Genesis, some Exodus but without all the juicy stuff like incest, r*pe, genocide, slavery, the deity telling lies, the multiple commandments noone cares about, genealogy, the inconsistancies, the lusty poetry, killing of children and babies, grooming and last but not least human sacrifice.

Ever watch a video of someone talking to a Jehovah's Witness? The jw is so sure that he's right and they have 5 or 6 pet verses to show that the dead aren't conscious, Jesus isn't god and only a few go to heaven and that's all they have. I watched a video where they came to Anthony Buzzard's house and they kept insisting the new testament promises didn't apply to them. It was quite funny to see Anthony read a verse and ask "is this talking about you?" and they actually said no and he was totally astonished. Religious belief does really weird things to people's minds.

Hah! The second you brought up Transubstantiation I was waiting for him to break out the catholic hate, these little branches of various religions all cant wait to dunk on other people that believe almost all of the exact same things they believe, except just a couple small differences. Also love it when they want to call out the chat is being mean rather than engaging the person they are talking to. And of course, almost always wrapped up in projection of the things they seem to acknowledge as bad onto others, but when they do it, its fine: Religion, faith, etc.

Let me start with the fact I do worship the holey trinity of Peterson, Spanky and Zeepzop. So who do we have here? - someone that thinks old books contain truths, there are books and stories older than those that are in the christian bible. - a christian that doesn't know (and when explained doesn't believe in) transubstantiation. So you are in a minority sect/cult/denomination of christians that don't believe in this. A sect/cult/denomination that split of (very very) likely from catholics. Since the catholics (both eastern and western) and the orthodox (both oriental and eastern) have this in their doctrine, this accounts for about 1600 million christians out of the about 2300/2600 million. - a christian that doesn't know his bible. - has faith in things that cannot be proven (or disproven). - cannot finish a sentence without starting a new one in the middle. Calm down, focus on the interlocutor (not chat) and finish sentences. Be skeptic, the only time there is to actually believe in something is when there is actual evidence, evidence that is testable, falsifiable and reproducable. After all you can have faith in anything, that explains the many many mutually exclusive religions and the multiple sects/cults/denominations in most religions.

My go to source for determining cults is Stephen Hassan's BITE model. It's a very concise list of descriptors that outline the four modes of control that all cults employ: Behavior, Information, Thought, and Emotion. Simply put, the more boxes you check, the more cult-like the entity in question becomes. I hate to break it to this guy, but Flerf is a cult. If that hurts his feelings, then too bad. Also, I know Eric Dubay made a feeble attempt at explaining how Globe Earth is a cult, but his definition for cult commits the Etymology Fallacy. You think someone could remind him of the BITE model and how much flerf checks the boxes? After all, it's what I found when I "did my own research."
