Hello, is Guest Hallow Christian?

Guest Hollow creators are Christian. But not everything they create has Christian content. This particular course does have some Christian content.

Thank you for contacting us and letting us know you are interested in learning what (if any) religious position the curriculum choices created by Guest Hollow, LLC take. The answer is somewhat complex :-) In short, because of the vagaries of definition and interpretation we cannot give you a solid “YES or NO answer. We want to make one thing absolutely clear to both religious and non-religious customers alike: We do not guarantee either a completely secular-free-experience with our Christian-leaning curriculum, nor do we guarantee a totally religion-free-curriculum even in cases where our materials are not intended to be specifically ‘Christian’ or ‘religious’. Because such labels have very different interpretations and even very specific meanings in certain circles or situations, we choose NOT to label or market our material as either “religious” or “secular”. At Guest Hollow, we do not nor try to determine, beyond prima facie lines, if labels such as “secular”, “Christian”, or “religious” apply to any of our materials. We leave that determination up to the end-user and customers. Having said that, SOME of our curriculum are designed to be from a Christian Viewpoint, like Guest Hollow’s Biology Curriculum, and SOME are designed with the intention of being pretty-much neutral - like for instance Guest Hollow’s Chemistry in the Kitchen Curriculum. It simply depends on the specific curriculum you are interested in. Each curriculum product page contains some level of helpful information. To see this information go to the specific product page for the material you are interested in and look under the FAQ section and you will see the heading: “Is this curriculum Christian or secular”. Click on that heading and a drop-down should pop open with information specific to that particular curriculum. By way of example here is the FAQ entry from Guest Hollow’s Chemistry in the Kitchen: guesthollow.com/store/high-school-chemistry-curriculum/ Guest Hollow’s Chemistry in the Kitchen Curriculum is not intended to be a “Christian resource”. However, there may be infrequent (or what we consider to be) minor references or links to resources that mention Christian ideas, values, or sectarian topics even in our secular/non-religious/neutral curriculums. If we schedule in a Christian book, we try to give you notice of such in the books and resources page. Christians and non-Christians should preview the scheduled books and all other resources such as videos, etc. to make sure they are compatible with your beliefs, philosophies, and values. And here by way of contrast is a similar FAQ entry from Guest Hollow’s Biology Curriculum: guesthollow.com/store/high-school-biology-curriculum/ Guest Hollow’s High School Biology uses a *spine book that is Christian. *A spine book is a book that is used as a backbone of a study that students will use often. Secular families can also use our schedule with the original CK-12 biology book. Click here for more info. Some of the extra books and resources we schedule in are non-religious in nature. If we schedule in a Christian book, we try to give you notice of such in the books and resources page. Christians and non-Christians should preview the scheduled books and all other resources such as videos, etc. to make sure they are compatible with your beliefs, philosophies, and values. -=-=-=-= IMPORTANT: You will also find links to each curriculum’s book and material lists linked on each curriculum’s product page. Customers who are concerned about these issues should thoroughly go through and study those booklists and their associated FAQs in detail. You will need to determine for yourself, book by book, if the books required for any given curriculum contain material that you feel is not appropriate for your audience/student(s). I hope this helps you to understand our position on this issue. Again, Guest Hollow, LLC will not claim a completely religious-free nor a completely secular-free experience with any of our materials. Some of our materials do definitely have specific leaning, and we believe we have made that clear on each individual curriculum page.
