@@aizam5882 agree. Plus, the pressure that the Korean education system has on students is insane. Have you seen a ‘normal’ schedule for a high school students? They study from early morning to midnight. When you need to study for your college entrance exam, there is a saying that if you sleep more than 3 hours a day you will fail. This kind of environment has serious impacts on students’ physical and mental health. I also believe not everyone is born for academia. The son briefly mentions he is good with arts and has interest in tatooing, I think it is a good area to explore (of course tatoos still have certain stigma in many Asian countries). There are definitely miscommunications between him and his mom; both show different interests and values. He is also too childish for not working for what he wants and instead depends too much on his mom.

some of svt members share a similar story. The father from the second concern really disgusted me. First of all, your daughter is raising her brother to try to hold together what little normalcy is left and you shit on her efforts almost all of the time??? Like no one is perfect, but it is obvious that he negatively reinforcing bad behaviors in his son. On top of that, throwing coffee on her, telling her to mind her own business, telling her she's just like her mom? I get that he may have been hurt from the mom leaving but that is no reason to take it out on his daughter. He takes out his hurt from his marriage on his daughter it seems. Even him saying "If you act like that to me, who can I turn to?" Like, brush, who can SHE turn to??? She did not ask to be born into this world or to go through what she's going through. If you cannot handle the stress from the divorce, you should seek help, not take it out on your children.

The first concern hit me hard because the problem goes both ways. It's not only the child, but the mother too. When he said that he wanted them to apologize to each other, she said "Why should a mother apologize to her own child?" ( The situation is from 20:30 - 20:50) That single question just changed the whole concern for me. She is obviously struggling with her son's rebellious ways but havent she thought about why he's acting the way he is? Parents do make mistakes and when it's towards their own child, regardless of how young or old, they should apologize. If it's taking an emotional toll on her, imagine what toll the son is going through mentally as well. They both need to open up to each other because this is not a one-way problem. They really need to get help, and a proper one.

I agree! Asians take filial piety so seriously that it gets to the point where parents, grandparents, etc, don’t see what they’re doing wrong and completely blame the child without trying to understand why they’re acting that way. It’s always so sad to witness from either side of the problem.
@haiijova10 ай бұрын
FINALLY SOMEONE SAYING THIS, THANK YOU

Many people have difficulty seeing things from their son's perspective. It's common for Asian parents to believe they can never be wrong and to never apologize for their mistakes. Parents like his mother tend to have high expectations for their children, which can be difficult to live up to. He didn't criticize his mother much so it seems like he cares about his mother more than you think. From my perspective, the son is tired of living according to his parents' wishes, which is why he has rebelled since entering high school. It seems that he tried to maintain the ideal son image up to middle school. There's more to the story, as his mother has physically harmed him to the extent that he had to visit the hospital. It's possible that this wasn't the only time he was hurt. The mother also seems excessively strict about everything.

I felt really bad for the girl in the second concern as I am a child of divorce too. My older sister didn't really care for me and my younger sister when we lived with our mother so I was trying to care for my younger sister as a "mom" because our mom was always working. My younger sister cussed at me too and even beat me just because I was trying to make her as happy as possible. She still doesn't appreciate what people did and do for her. I moved to my father's place five years ago and one time we fought so badly he telled me that I were just like my mom. And that left me heartbroken. I'm mentally ill since elementary school and those words affected me really hard. I shed tears through this concern because I remembered that argument between him and me. As I am a really hot tempered person because of my personality disorder I can't control my feelings and I always feel bad for being loud and getting angry easily. I'm trying my best to controll my moods, I take medication and I go to therapy but it's so hard and my father doesn't understand that. He thinks that it's easy but it's really not. The divorce of my parents was traumatic for me and trying to be the "mom" for my younger sister really stressed me out. So I can understand how the girl feels and I sympathized with her so much. Actually I just want to be friends with her and give her many warm hugs to give her strength.

He seems concerned when he said wife and kids. One thing i hate the most about Korea are the stereotypes, for me that kid just wanted some love and affection from that specific friend. I'm like this too, when there is a person i'm comfortable with the most i tend to lean just on them. It's the first time I cry so much while watching this show. On the first concern, I relate so much about what Seungkwan said. The guy really need to wake up, because his mom already thought about suicide. I hope he'll realize that before it's too late.

As for the first concern - The way they are handling this is totally wrong. He's stuck in a hole, where he doesn't know what he wants, doesn't feel the right kind of love from his family and friends, and are prob hanging out with the wrong friends on top of that. I used to be the same, and the only way to "work" and get communication up, is taking it slow, calmly and LISTEN. Why is he acting the way he does? No one asked. There's Always a hidden meaning behind behaviours like these, and he obviously doesn't feel good. Him getting mad, shouting and playing cool is a wall he's put up to defend himself from having to talk about his true feelings. He's lost, and all they do is blaming him for being an ignorant teenage boy. It's wrong on every level. I feel for this kid.. I really hope he will find comfort in his friends and/or that his family will come to accept him, listen to him and give him advice on life.

Senketsu I actually thought that he needs hug. There we're shouting at him, yeah, he did something wrong there is a way to speak with people. Honestly he felt bad about it too, screaming on him (cause they want to do comedy) it's not right...

Finally someone who isn’t bashing at the poor boy, I hate when they always shout, they don’t know what he wants, and It’s so frustrating to see them just looking at the problem on their side, they didn’t go to HIS place and face the problem and figure out the reason
@kyo_ch21676 жыл бұрын
as someone who had mental health issues a a teen i agree with this 100, when i opened up to my mom, she cursed at me, hit me, also like him 'why should a mother apologize to a child?' humans have limits and have a capacity, when you're a kid you have no one but you're friends most importantly, your parents... the best way i can describe mental health is kicking down a person who is already down, it hurts 100 times more than kicking a normal healthy person who hasn't undergone stress. the approach here i can see the signs blaring is so wrong, if i could change it, i would want the parental approach to be entirely different to come from a place of understanding eliminating anger, he must have experienced extreme stress for him to act like that, i'm telling you, there is always a reason behind everything and kids are deeper thinkers than you believe

Yes that's what I thought too while watching. I'm actually waiting for someone to ask on what his reasons are but all they did was shout.

The first concern was so frustrating to listen to. The mother is "superwoman". She works in the day and studies at night while the son doesn't even try to be normal and do his responsibilities as a child. She isn't asking for something big, she just wants him to act like he is supposed too. If he was my son, which I'm grateful that he isn't, I'd literally disown him. I know it's harsh to say and I'm not in her shoes to judge what she is doing. I have mad respect for her. As for the second concern, I understand both sides. The son is at a sensitive age and he is going through puberty, so it's understandable that he is moody, but I don't think cussing is right, it's just an excuse. He should learn how to express himself in a better way and respect his sister who is going through thick and thin alone and enduring it. They need to build a good relationship because at the end, 10, 15 years later they'll only have each other. The father also needs to build a healthy relationship with them. My mom has been divorced for the past 5 years and I know how hard it is for her to play both roles, but at least she is trying her best. I feel so bad the sister, who hears the phrase "you're just like your mom" over and over. She'll be scarred for life.

But the mother in the first concern beats her son! Why does that seems so normal to people?
@wendyaxe6 жыл бұрын
Sanaë R beating people isnt normal but she felt extremely bad afterward. Even told him to go to the hospital. Usually when parents beat their children, they do not feel sorry at all. Plus the fact that she has done so much for him and he didnt do anything for her makes a huge difference.

My question is if he wants independence so badly he should just get at least a part time job (one that doesn’t involve too hard of labor) and provide for himself to gain financial independence. He obviously has the time to do it after leaving school.
@moriahrivas58276 жыл бұрын
I'm about three months too late for this discussion, but here's my take on the first concern: I fully agree that the son's behavior is inexcusable, but I think that its unfair of his mom to praise him so much at first, ( best son ever, top of class, black belt, etc.) only to turn around and say he's worthless when he begins to act up. Obviously his actions were wrong anyway, but they weren't addressed correctly either. Also, they made him promise to move back in with his parents, but the reason he didn't want to was because they fought all the time. Avoiding the problem won't fix it, but they're forcing him to stay in a stressful situation, (and we all know stress is a really big no no) and telling him it's the least he can do to make his mom happy. I sympathize with the mom because I can understand her urge to work hard and oblige people, (like giving her son large sums of money) but beating her son up because she's upset is not okay. Actually, it's abuse. Her son is committing actual crimes, so her response is understandable, but still wrong.

kid from the first concern obviously has problems with himself not his mother, teenagers don’t act out for no reason, they’re much deeper thinkers than you think. i’m not justifying the way he treated her but there’s no way he was a good boy then suddenly took a 360 turn when he joined high school. look beyond the surface every action has reasoning 🤨

I couldn't stand the first concern. Yeah, the son has done many wrong things but the mother isn't right either. They didn't listen to the sons side for every event. Just because the mom got emotional doesn't mean she's right. I'm sorry if you're against this but it's just my opinion. I wish they would understand the sons perspective more and understand why he doesn't want to live at home.

i think the second one was really a story that showed real people and their issues. they're just all hurt and they can't seem to communicate it because it's hard. they lost one parent figure, of course that's going to affect them all. i don't think that having 2 adults is the best type of home, but if someone lost their parental figure who was there all their life, i can imagine that they wouldn't handle it well. they're just hurt people who keep hurting each other because of miscommunication.

My opinion in the first concern: This guy... you can tell that he is a good person and could be a better son but he thinks too much of himself. He is the type to think that the world is doing him wrong and all that shit. I understand how he feels though but there are different ways to deal with things. I honestly understand how he feels. I am in my last year of high school and rn, I just wanna quit bc I don't even wanna go to university, if I had the choice not to go, I wouldn't because I can't take that much pressure. I have mental breakdown several times a day and I'm not mentally prepared to live the adult life. I'm only 16. I just hope he appreciates what his parents are doing for him and actually talk to them about what he wants to do so that he can have the support bc they are supportive and love him very much. He should just know that he isn't the only one angry at the world. The world does not revolve around him and he should be more responsible, loving and should appreciate his parents more.

As a student, I can say that I'm really really guilty every time I ask for money for school expenses. Sometimes I cried a lot too, because my parents keep saying that I'm only wasting money and spending will never get my grades higher. But then, they'll be mad once I'm not the top1 in our class...

While watching the second concern the only thing that was coming to my mind was "The mother's absence affects a family that bad" The younger boy really needs his mom in this period and the daughter too, she is not that old to play the role of a mother and despite that she is doing her best and I can see how much their father loves them too but all the circumstances they are going through made the family end up like that... I really hope the boy will start relying on his sister and they will live happily from now on
