憶昔年懷千萬 懸板
Hanging Board Inscribed with King Yeongjo’s Reminiscence about a Time with His Grandson
81세의 영조가 1774년 3월 21일 왕세손(훗날 정조)과 함께 궁궐 안 여러 곳을 돌아보고 지은 글을 새긴 현판이다. 영조는 왕세손과 경봉각을 참배한 후 홍문관, 춘방, 승정원을 돌아보며 느낀 감회를 다음날 글로 남기고 현판으로 만들어 후대에 널리 전하도록 했다
This hanging board bears a carved version of writing that King Yeongjo composed at the age of eighty-one after visiting several places within the palace together with his grandson (the future King Jeongjo) on the twenty-first day og the third lunar month of 1774. After paying respects to the spirit tablets of Chinese emperors enshrined in Gyeongbonggak Hall, King Yeongjo and his grandson visited the Hongmungwan (office of Specisal Advisor), Chunbang (Crown Prince tutorial office), and Seungjeongwon (Royal Secretariat). Nothing that the duties and polices he carried out as a Joseon kinng corresponded those of Chinese emperors from the past, he felt surprised by the similarities. King Yeongjo wrote about this and had it engraved on a hanging board do that sovereigns in later generations could keep it in mind.
