With all due respect to Dr. Mahlet, I think her understanding of "the white men" and feminism is too shallow to say the least. Her view is reductionist and ignores the complexities in "the West". For instance, she said that "white men" have a better "feminist mentality". What does "feminist mentality" mean? Is there such a thing called "feminist mentality" in the white men's" culture? I would love to hear her response. Secondly, she mixed up different strands of feminism and equated Westernization with civility. This is actually the problem with self-proclaimed feminists in Ethiopia.

Gugut, you have done amazing to let her finish. Biruk behind the camera definitely was holding her accountable to the multiple baseless claim and flawed arguments she had. The reason an Ethiopian is attracted to someone from outside Ethiopia is their low self-esteem, which reflects an inner belief that a foreigner is better and brings more quality. This is naivety and inexperience with the mentality and social spirit of people that are particularly present in Western societies. Many Ethiopians are unaware that romantic relationships are mostly superficial and that families in developed societies have fewer spiritual ties.

Well done Dr. Mahlet. You just showed us what would a universal mindset of a young woman looks alike through your vast reads. Despite the controversy looming around the so-called feminisim, your argument regarding the patriarchal Ethiopia remains solid and undeniable. And therefore the leadership is always catastrophic because the country is established up on this barbaric mentality of masculinity and bravery. I believe you ladies are way better enlightened than the boys around even if the number looks fewer from the national data of girls enrolled in tertiary education. I know your free but enlightened social life would give you so much obstacles, but I also see your confidence and self-esteem is out of that corner. Wish you have a leadership role in one way or another.

That's the problem with 'modern' feminists. They tell you that gender is a construct. They say men and women are quite the same except for biology. Language is just a tool used to communicate. nothing more more, nothing less. No one is born speaking Amharic, English, or any other languages. If they feel like they can express them self in English in any point of time, they can do so freely. This is how urban kids with global influence speak. @@ABESHHHAAA if you use two languages as your speaking to someone you are going to sound illiterate. The other person perceives it as you don't know many amharic words so you add in the English version. This is what diasporas do when they are not fluent in their mothers tongue. But now fluent amharic speaking people add English for no reason. This is very annoying for many ethiopians, especially those outside ethiopia. I don't think they realise how stupid they sound. If you can't speak amharic, then speak English. If you can't speak English, then speak amharic. If you are stupid and illiterate, then you use both.

This video was posted last year. How did I miss it? Very interesting. Dr. Mahlet over all wins the conversation and she thinks all guys are the same. Even though I do not agree with all her beliefs, she made lots of very good solid points. You two guys could not protect us as men. Next time I have to be in this show, lek lek wan newu yemenegrat. Solution is that our young new generation needs to get a good education along with Gebregeb education. It means ferha Egziabher, it means common sense.I say to Dr. Mahlet, Your Expectation leads you to disappointment. You are Good but you could loose with Daniel Kibret. I have to say i like the back ground. Very nice show I shared on my facebook. Please come back again. Thanks !!!

I have never seen or heard of an Ethiopian with less self-respect and pride. The reason an Ethiopian is attracted to someone from outside Ethiopia is their low self-esteem, which reflects an inner belief that a foreigner is better and brings more quality. This is naivety and inexperience with the mentality and social spirit of people that are particularly present in Western societies. Many Ethiopians are unaware that romantic relationships are mostly superficial and that families in developed societies have less spiritual ties.

Hello Gugut podcast, I really enjoy and appreciate your program. Just wanted to suggest a correction on the Ethiopian vs Whites (ferenj). it’s better said habesha in general, so that it includes Eritrean’s as well, cause, I personally believe we’re all same people and eventually we will be one. Thank you kindly!
@k.s213
@k.s213 Жыл бұрын
But when you try to include Eritreans by using the term Habesha, you're also leaving out other ethnicities that don't call themselves Habesaha like oromos, debub and a lot others.
