Self inflating for me, I’m a side sleeper and find them more comfortable than inflatable ones, you don’t have to baby them since they don’t puncture as easily use that pump in reverse and they deflate fast and easy to pack up. If you don’t have a pump inflatable ones take almost as much time as self inflating running the risk of developing mold inside, price is better for a product that’ll last longer. I have all 3 different ones. I use the closed cell for my dogs and regret to have bought the inflatable ones (I have 2). Forgot to say inflatable makes more noise and they’re slippery. Thanks for the video.

nice overview. I tried that inflating pad and couldn't do it. Too "wobbly", felt like i was falling off all the time. My wife same thing. (and deflate I hit the ground). Self-inflating much better! I'll accept the higher weight.

Really? Are you sure it was not faulty? You should be able to to get a firmer pad with the inflating pad vs the self inflating ones. I like mine pretty firm. Anyway if self-inflating works for you stick to it. Thank you for following and for your feddback!

@@DavideTravelli yeah when it was firm it felt like a waterbed.. Had to balance while sleeping, my wife complained about waking up constantly. I played around with it at home to and couldn't really get comfortable. *shrug, the SI seems fine

@@obidamnkenobi that's odd I never heard anyone reporting such experience. At least SI is working for you. Enjoy the next camp site!

Self inflating pad good for side sleepers? Is it more comfortable than air mat?
@DavideTravelli3 жыл бұрын
Hiya! Self inflating and inflating mats are very similar in confort and feel if you compare products with similar thickness. If you’re a side sleeper the thicker the pad the better. So check how high is the pad you’re buying.

I've an expensive Sea to Summit air mat and a cheap $20 self-inflating mat from the local supermarket. It turns out my $20 mat was more comfy even though it's thinner, but it's so bulky and heavy there is no chance I'll take it on a hiking/bikepacking trip.

Yeah the pump is a bit of a rip off; it's handy tho.
