WOW. Great minds think alike. I found GDU, Inc online last week, and when I saw their online store was down, I called them. They told me they do carry the pouches I was looking for, but they were having trouble with their credit card machine. Good news.....they take checks!!! I ordered 2. It will take a bit longer to get it, but worth the wait. I'll let you know when I get them. I really appreciate the update.

FANTASTIC!! I've had mine for almost three years. Still works just fine. A bit worn where the straps are sown into the pouch but it's still holding up pretty good. If you don't mind me asking, how much are they going for now? I'm thinking about getting a spare.

i was wondering where you got your "Do not pet" sign. I was searching the web, when I came across your site. I had the identical one for my guide, Gable. I prefer it over the hard plastic one. I lost mine recently while on vacation. Any links would be appreciated.

Hi, I am a guy dog handler from Australia, and we don't tend to use gentle leaders in our dogs. I was just wondering the reasons behind fly your guide dog School teaches you to use a gentle leader, if you find that it decreases the quality of the dogs work, and how come you use it on your dog at all times. I once used to gently down my dog when I first got him, because he tended to eat a lot of grass but the issue is long solved and I intend not to use one again. Thanks

The reason I use a gentle leader with my guide is very simple actually. I'm not a very hard leash corrector. I prefer gentle pulls on Philbin to draw his attention back to work. This is also good for crowded situations where I don't have a lot of room to move my arms. I hope this helps. As you know, the gentle leader does not inhibit the dog's ability to open their mouth or breath but provides a gentle alternative to traditional leash corrections.

Dogs that are very strong and tend to pull when on a leash work much better in a haltie or gentle leader also if your dog is a bit aggressive you can use it to break their eye contact with another dog

I tried replying to Marlis's comment but said they did not allow replies so I'll mention it here. I cant remember who sells it but I do remember ordering it over the Phone. A field rep or someone who works at the Guide Dogs For The Blind Store should be able to tell you who sells it even if you didn't get your guide from them. I wish I could be more helpful but unfortunately that's all I can remember. I hope you find it.

My harness for Philbin is exclusively provided by Guide Dogs For The Blind. They are not for sale. They are specially made for each student from GDB and cost several hundred dollars. Unfortunately, I cannot give any suggestions on harnesses sold to the public. What I will says is make sure you get a rigid handle that when the harness is paced on the dog, the handle is waist high. This will be more comfortable for you and your dog. P.S. Thanks for commenting and I hope you'll subscribe..

I've got some new good news and bad news to share with you about the "Please Do Not Pet" nylon piece that my Guide Dog wears. I found out through the GDB Mid-West Field Manager Lauren Ross that it's made by a company called "Guide dog users inc" The bad news is a quick check of their website says they're suspending their store temporarily. I'm not sure if that's still true but here's a link and a phone number. I'm glad I could at least tell you who makes the sign. GOOD LUCK! Keep Me updated

Any suggestions on where I can find a harness like yours? Or brand suggestions? I have a service dog that guides me and am finding normal vests and harnesses just aren't making the cut for us as a team. Thanks in advance!

The harnesses are tightly guarded to prevent unauthorized use. I do not know of a seller who sells those harnesses any longer.

I don't know if you're aware of this, seeing as how this video is a few years old now, but GDB sells dog tag silencing pouches: store.guidedogs.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_18&products_id=24
