Awesome, Wayne. I just ordered this tent. Supposed to be here by the 13th. The wife and I are doing a grey hair group shakedown camp the night of the 14th through the 16th here near the border in S. Texas. I was happy to find a good setup and review of the tent. It's going on my 2021 Ram 1500 6'4" bed. Glad to see what to do on the ground and what to do on the truck. I also saw you did an Amazon review on the Redcamp alcohol stove. Thinking about adding that to my myriad of handy cookstoves. I like some variety. LOL. From two Coleman stoves, 1 propane and one gas, a small folding fuel tab type, and somewhere I have little butane, fold-up backpacker I've used from Ft. Bragg to interior Alaska. Nice to have options. They came in handy during Snowmaggeden last year.

I am really enjoying having this tent, that's for sure. I have an actual camp cot set up in mine with a nice foam mattress and I sleep just as good as if I am at home in my own bed, sometimes better. There is a lot of storage in this thing too, and opening the windows on the sides gives great ventilation. I just park my truck where I am broadside in the wind and I get great air flow on warmer nights. Another thing I like is that the floor seems to be a lot more durable than I was expecting. I was worried about the camp cot tearing the floor or at least putting small holes in it but so far I have had no issue. As of late, and since I have been using my truck as conveyance, I have carried a carpet remnant cut to the exact dimensions of the bed of my truck that I put inside the tent. I know a lot of guys will see it as more " glamping " but that's fine. I'm getting older and have earned a few comforts in my lifetime, but it does make it nice when I crawl out of my sleeping bag to not be putting bare feet on the cold bottom of the tent and truck bed. Appreciate the reply. Yep. I'll be 65 in March this year. I was raised on a farm and camped with little, a Boy Scout, and active-duty Army for over a decade. While I could do the old two ponchos and a poncho liner if I had to. No thanks. I just happen to have some thick carpet remnants where the previous owners installed new carpet. I had some of that down in my Nissan NV200 van. You know it's gonna go in here too. I have to see how our blue air mattresses fit, but I get the feeling for the weekend coming up the wife will get the field cot and I'll take the floor with my Thermarest pad and bag. I had what I think is a really good, bad idea before getting up this morning. Eventually, pick up a short bed truck bed trailer. A trailer box on the tongue, all the camp stuff in the bed, and tarp it over. Once onsite, pull everything out and set the tent up in the truck bed trailer. Then you can still use the truck for a short run if you need to. Seems like a good idea. Except... It means finding and paying for a truck bed trailer in good shape. LOL. Good luck with the license, and everything. Hope you still find time to get out and enjoy.

You cannot close the tailgate because the tent poles on the hitch end extend extend onto the tailgate itself. I still have this tent and really love it.

Absolutely! I’ve actually been using this truck tent quite a bit. Just did four nights in it about six weeks ago and was really really happy with it. I would be glad to put it back up and do a one year review, Although when I film that video it will be in town. I still have my cabin out in the country but I don’t reside there full-time anymore and my truck is in the city.

I'm not sure that it would because of the added height. It's pretty much made to rest on the top of the bed on all three sides.

Lol may as well test in real world conditions. No one wants to have to take this tent down and put it back up just to move from spot to spot if they don't absolutely have to. At least this way they know they don't necessarily have to. Thanks for watching and for your subscription!

I had the same question. Think it comes down to the length of your bed. Per pics it's shows it fits completely in a long bed with the tailgate up.

compact or full sized….. can it be used on ground? is it see through??

It’s made of the same exact material as any other tent so if you’re inside it at night with a light on, yes people will see through it from the outside. No it cannot be used on the ground. It has no support structure. It is made to set in a truck bed. You can buy them for any size truck bed.

Does this work for my Ford ranger with the wheel wells in the bed? Will it fit?

As long as it is a 6 foot bed yes it will work. My GMC Sonoma has the wheel wells in the bed as well.
