If I’m doing replacement only I can just buy the socket plate for the front portion? Do I need to buy the backing too, the box?

Hihi, sure you can only buy the front portion to replace if the box is not spoiled. For my case the back box has one damage screw thread and front has one socket damaged. Thus I replace both parts 😊

Why are the 2 live wire going into the same L terminals?

You might only have one live wire. For my example, it loops to other outlets so have 2 Live wire. You can research a diagram on ring or radical circuit (depends on your country). Hope the diagram can help you understand better 😊

Thanks. I did not realise that some outlets are looped. There was once I tried replacing a new outlet and only connected 1 set of wiring without the looped cable and thus ended causing other outlet to have no power. That is why I am an amateur lol

@jk35260 is ok to be a beginner 👌I also start from nothing, I also Google and KZbin alot to learn👍. Proud of you to try out. Cos usually we learn faster from fail attempts.

hi there, do you know how can I change from a 2-gang switch outlet to two 1-gang switch outlet? planning to change mine to a "sunken" switch outlet, but they only have 1-gang type

Hi, I do not have a video on that but I try my best to explain with word. Assuming when you open your current 2 gang, it looks like time stamp 1:25 in (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bV7Tdp13n6mjntk) You would have to add 3 more wires (L,N,E) And connect to the 2nd 1-gang switch. Your 1st gang will look like timestamp 0:48 in (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKvGpaGPaKecjNk), each terminal on 1st gang will have 2 wires.
