Wanted to update the fishing info as I fished this lake religiously last year. From what I understand the PAGC plans to drain lake for dam replacement within the next few years. Though I haven't seen it documented, I heard that the fish will be moved to the rebuilt sommerset lake. Summer of 2021 was a large mouth down year and smallmouth up year. Several of the PAGC officers I talked to were present for some tournament weigh ins and there weren't any lunkers taken above the 5.5lb mark which is poor for this lake. I caught over 50 smallmouth last summer with one being 3lb9oz. Biggest largemouth was an April prespawner which was between 5 and 6 lbs. Lost count of the grass pikeral caught. I caught one smaller pike on a jerkbait in the spring. In the handful of days I've targeted pan fish, I generally catch more red ear and pumpkinseed then bluegil. The way I recommend fishing up there is stay on the grass edges in 12ft of water or find the hard areas in the grass in shallower water. Drag the weed less soft plastics around or throw some moving creatures. In early spring I've had good luck slow rolling swimbaits off the bottom. Tight lines

Not sure, but think the Fish Report pics may be stock photos. Pretty sure I have seen the same pics at Dutch Fork.

LOL, I watch every fall before I go to my buddy's cabin. Every year I get sabatoged by spider bites or my friend falling into the chilly October water (without a change of clothes!). He thinks because his sister-in-law doesn't catch anything..."but they have a boat"...that HP is bad fishing...THIS IS THE YEAR...now back to my Scotch.

Hey bro really appreciate all the videos, especially the lake breakdown series. I would love to see some for the bay at Erie, Loyalhanna Lake, and Greenlick Lake. Keep up the good work, some of the best ive found anywhere.

High point is my home lake and I love it. Only problem is tournament guys have started to infiltrate it and after one of their tournaments the lake shuts down for a week or two. It’s just not big enough to support that many tournaments with that many boats.

Great video Ryan. I fished there ice fishing years ago plus I had a smaller boat on it. I have a bigger boat now 17' Starcraft with a 90 inch beam. I need 1.9 feet of water to float it off. Last time I was there looked too shallow to launch it. Is there a deeper ramp to float it off??

Were you able to get it in ? I have a 18ft boat

This is what we consider our home lake. I can confirm that they no longer stock walleye. They are still there but are rare to find, and not naturally reproducing, so eventually I would guess they will be gone.

Going to ice fish list tomorrow or Thursday 1st time going here. Anybody have any pointers of how many feet of water to target crappy or perch in?

Good vid. Timber is hard to access past the spring because this lake gets grassy. The biology report say the mussel is native. I've heard the local TMO club takes about a 20lb bag to win there. Got about 20% of the lake auto charted. The lake reminds me of New York glacier lakes the way it has big shallow slow rolling flats. Went up there for pan fish once last year. Mostly caught red ear and actually picked up a few juvenile smallmouth near the ramp. Went up a few more times late summer and fall and landed several LMB between 2 1/2 and 4lb. Going to give the smallmouth a shot this weekend.

Thinking about going up there this weekend but I don't have a boat...is it pretty accessable to fish from shore walking around the lake?
@FishingPAwithRyanRead3 жыл бұрын
It’s going to be tough with the weeds, there’s areas around the launches , but allot of the shoreline will be choked out by now. Top eater may be good though, not sure haven’t seen the lake this year. My buddy fished it a few weeks ago and the weeds were tough.

@@FishingPAwithRyanRead yea i keep hearing about the weed problem there.... also thinking about trying the paddle boat rental at Twin Lakes Resovoir. That place would probably be a better idea this time of year.... Being from Fayette county its pretty close to my home
@FishingPAwithRyanRead3 жыл бұрын
Twin lakes is a sleeper lake , lots of guys avoid it because it’s small , but there’s some good bass and catfish there. Best thing to do is to check the biology reports out before hitting a lake, gives you a snapshot of how the last few years has been.
