It wasn't bad at all, they might have just cleaned it 🤷🏼♂️

Calgary transit is mediocre on weekdays outside of rush hour and on the weekends. Plan lots of extra time to get to where you're going, if you're not going downtown and you're not traveling at rush hour, as there are some routes that are on 30 minute cycles. Late evening and past midnight, save yourself the stress and schedule an Uber or taxi. If you just miss a connector somewhere, you could be waiting 30 minutes for the next one. Not usually terrible in the summer, but when it's minus 20 C, it can be pretty miserable; particularly because there's only a handful of stops that have heated shelters, and many of those are often broken or just turned off to avoid attracting the un-housed. Even along the downtown line, once the malls are closed at 9:00pm, there's nowhere to wait that's heated or out of the wind. At least the trains run more frequently than some busses, but if there's a problem on one of the lines (Red or Blue) the whole downtown line backs up, because all trains share those two tracks through downtown. There's been days when a switch problem has resulted in the entire system being backed up, and it usually happens on the first really cold day in the winter. I've had co-workers who come to work around 8:00, call in and work from home, because there's a 45 - 60 minute delay on the trains. Watch the fun when the entire system backs up at rush hour. Busses are bringing tons of people into the stations, but the trains are just sitting there. After 10-15 minutes, there's now a totally full train at every station, with people still on the platform, who won't be able to get on the next train when the system finally gets going.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's true-transit can definitely be frustrating, especially in winter or during rush hours. Planning extra time and having a backup like Uber is solid advice. Hopefully, the city makes some improvements

The tram looked so clean. Any district you would for new comers who don't have a car at first year. Blue line seems closer to the city centre.

They both go through downtown. A lot of new comers stay in the NE because it's close to the airport and it's the cheapest quadrant in the city. Would you want to be in downtown or more in the suburbs?

The trains run 20 hours per day. What hours are the buses running?
@ZachSchultzRealEstate21 күн бұрын
Bus services generally operate from around 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m but it can vary depending on the route and day. Most are 5am-1am though

Already cheaper than Vancouver because we pay by zone. 3 zones can almost be $200/ month.

I’d be surprised if you did ☺️ Danielle Smith (our premier) is planning on putting at least 100 more cops in Edmonton and Calgary to reduce crime and increase safety
