If you really want to rake in some gold, help Masha. She'll ask you for a gold loan and tell you about a red-gloved merchant who swindled her. When that merchant later comes to you, ask him about his name and you can recognize and imprison him. Then invite Masha again, and she'll not only pay you double what you loaned her, but also throw in an extra payment if you tell her that you caught the merchant and turn him over to her. Also, get a stable early on and send agents to the unlocked locations whenever you can. Each location will net you a reward for your agent helping with someone's problems. (The Steam page has a guide that tells you what rewards you get for each location.)
