My son is finishing his 2nd year at UvA, and he loves it! I visited last summer and I loved it too. He was in Sloterdijk the 1st year, and I LIKED it. He did, too. He's fluent in German, lovely Antonia-lived in Hamburg. Your video is great, and I agree that I felt very safe there. Look for his band playing out. It's him and 3 Dutchies: their band name is Ratjetou! I'd recommend studying there to anyone, unless they're just not fit enough to get around.

Hey I have two more questions: 1. Would you say it's important to be able to speak Dutch 2. How about finding jobs? Is it easy to find a job as a student in Amsterdam and is it essential for the jobs to speak Dutch? Would be lovely if you could answer that🙈🥺💗💗thanks for the video it really really helped me
@sander88312 жыл бұрын
Hi, as a Dutch person I think I can answer your questions. 1) Especially in big cities speaking Dutch is not essential, most Dutch people speak a decent amount of English and in bigger cities there are a lot of people who aren't Dutch that only speak English. 2) Although some jobs do require that you speak Dutch there are plenty of jobs where only speaking English will suffice. In big cities you will find that in many restaurants, fast food places, cafe's or shops a lot of the employees only speak English. I don't know what kind of job you would be interested in, but I think that you can definitely find something you like without having to speak Dutch.

No, if you're not EU or Schengen, you will have a hard time finding a job, because your student visa is not enough. NL businesses prefer those 2 above classifications, because they have all the paperwork they need to hire those people. Americans are problematic.

Also I’m from Ukraine soo.. everything is a little bit harder )) I was at Amsterdam last year and I’m literally fell in love with this city so I would like to move there. I have questions for you if you don’t mind ) First of all , what is your first language? If it’s not English , what was your level when you were applying? Secondly, have you been scary about what program to chose ? I’m just so so confused how people actually decide what to learn, because I don’t have “dream job” and for me it is extremely hard decision. I would be so grateful for your answer ♥️
