But it's not impossible. You'll just have to start small and have laser-focused vision to your goal. Reinforce your determination by consuming the right online contents. It's not gonna be easy. Anything worth it is never easy. And surviving? It's the same launching pad most of us had to start from. The first thing about saving and investing is not actually saving and investing but conditioning your mind and educating yourself. The question is not about whether you can afford to save and invest but rather can you afford not to.

I automate my savings. I learned to pay myself first and consider savings as an expense. I tell my friends and family there's three types of savings; save for an emergency, save for what you want, and to save to invest. I also teach my family and friends the virtues of compound interest and what is an asset and a liability. I made mistakes with my investments, I thought I was secure, then I realized I wasn't. I ramped up my investment and savings. I also took advise from Dave Ramsey about having a financial advisor to manage my portfolios; I never looked back. My savings rate at the moment is at 32 percent and reaching 35 percent since I put away money that's left over for the day, week, or month is left from budget.

I have a question. When you say 15% should be save for retirement, this does not include emergency fund, and investing fund right? So basically, If you set aside total of 30% of your income every month, 15% is for retirement, the remaining can be spilt to 5% for EF and 10% for investing. Tama po ba? Or is it the other way around like when you say you save 15% this already includes EF and investment fund? I hope someone can enlighten me. Thank you in advance!

I have both and I like them both! Maya has more features than GoTyme, but their base interest rate has gone down a bit. You can get up to 10% p.a. with Maya if you accomplish their missions, but GoTyme is flat 5% p.a. - u can’t go wrong with either platform naman

Good points however, I doubt if you could still "retire" by 30 when you have your own family and financial responsibilities.. Im assuming you are still living with your parents so it's easier to save your money

Yep for sure! It’s a big privilege to be able take advantage of my current situation by saving as much as I can since I’m still living with my parents, but I definitely expect that it would be more challenging when I finally live on my own. Regardless of how realistic it would be to amass enough funds to actually “retire” in that timeframe, I’ll keep it as a guideline to keep me mindful and accountable. Pero I’ll continue to tweak and adjust my plans and rules as my life circumstances change as I grow older 😁👌
