Hey Finn. Got solar with help from your site. Very happy. Can you please do a video on NSW rebates for heat pump to add to my solar? The way I see it, battery is not worth it. Instead I calculated the electric hot water system I have if replaced by a heat pump system would give me better ROI.

I currently have solar and I'm told I will get the Victoria rebate because my system was installed before 2016. (Installed June 2011)

Thanks for the info. Our solar was installed 10-years ago and a recent check revealed some panels starting to laminate and fuse? in places. I was planning on going through our local council through a bulk buy scheme but then found your channel which has me interested. I’d appreciate your thoughts on these local council schemes.

Can you please do a separate video for western Australia please. We get shafted with almost no rebate.

I think you are confusing 'Feed In Tariff' and 'Rebate' - as explained here: www.solarquotes.com.au/good-solar-guide/rebates-tariffs/

Mate out of topic. I’m new to solar and about to get a budget system to start with. I see you have not mentioned Sofar Solar inverters yet. I assume they are the latest budget inverter in Australia. What’s your thoughts if any on them? Also anyone else to chime in appreciate it. 10KTLM-G3 is the model. Thanks

Wouldn't be my choice, for similar money I'd look at Goodwe or even better, Sungrow.

Same in Victoria... I'm hesitant to get quotes for any work in case I encounter cowboy. I've encountered too many of them already.

The rebate gets less every couple of months, I bought a $28,000 system 6.9kw with 2 batteries, I opted for a company who mucked me around for 3 months my rebate was $3,700, when I changed companies the rebate on the same price items dropped to $2720 pretty sad really, Don't be fooled Solar is not all bells and whistles either you now get charged for even using you batteries, in South Australia they now have mandatory a Flexible Exports plan, you cant see how much power they credit you with and they pay you once a year for what they have taken off you during the day only, they limit you to around 2kw per day, but luckily if you start using A/C, ovens, dishwashers, dryers they give you the extra Kw it feels like you are not in control of your own solar and battery system

Doesn't sound right. In terms of STCs per kW installed, the rebate changes every 12 months. The STC price varies on the open market but is remarkably steady.

@@SolarQuotes I went back and checked the quote from the first company and it was $3,850, that was in end September 23, and the other companies was $2,720 in mid-December, I'm wondering if the company may have pocketed about $1,000 as they collect it

Hi Finn, Thanks for the informative Video. I have a 6.5 KW solar on my roof for more than 3 years now, and currently thinking of installing a battery, I'm in Victoria and has just receive a letter in my mailbox from a company known as (Solar battery Group) telling people that the battery rebate will end June 30, 2023? is this true?

Yes, details here: www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/victoria-replacing-battery-rebates/. Be wary of those unsolicited offers in the mail though!

Thanks for this information. Your site and videos have been very helpful to know what to look for. I was curious in victoria about the battery rebate and if i am getting a solar system installed with a battery can i get that rebate and the battery rebate at the same time?
@SolarQuotes Жыл бұрын
In VIC you get the 'Federal rebate' no problem, but it is Victorian Battery rebate OR Victorian Solar Rebate
@chrisnolan4048 Жыл бұрын
@@SolarQuotes Thanks for the clarification. I just find it weird they would not want to give both rebate's to encourage more people to get battery's. oh well

This is great information, but it also adds to my confusion. I didn't realise there were two rebates. I also thought the home owner had to apply for the rebate and then pay the installer somehow? The process never made any sense. I would have installed years ago, if not for the rebate confusion. Should I apply for quotes first or apply for the rebate(s) first... or should I apply for the Vic rebate and have the installer apply for the federal rebate? It's nuts!
@ziggystardust52 Жыл бұрын
Get the quotes in. They‘ll outline the rebates and give you the final out-of-pocket amount. If you’re in Victoria, as soon as you pay the deposit, (or full amount if you want to go that way), the installer will send you a link to apply for the rebate and the interest-free loan. It took me about 5 days from getting the names from Finn to completing the Solar Victoria form.

@@ziggystardust52Thanks for the info. Problem is, I tend to not take the first step on anything complex until I know the whole process in advance, such is the case with getting a solar system installed.

Where are you in Victoria?

@@toby9999, had our system installed Wednesday. We live in a retirement village, so had to wait more nearly 2 weeks for final approval. Without that, the process would only have taken about 2 weeks from quote to install.

@Robert Bakker Do the people live in retirement village are able to install solar panels?
