I had the good fortune of visiting this place about 15 years ago with Charlie's son. It's everything you see here, and much more. I remember seeing an old home-built saw mill. The power plant for the saw mill was an old Ford that was up on blocks. The drive wheel went to a big rubber belt, and that belt powered the saw blade. This man is an absolute gem. The world is a better place because he is in it. This property is nothing short of magical.

I'm 55 and dealing with the realization that - best case scenario - I'm well past the halfway point. I've lived in cities my whole life. I'm currently getting my house ready to sell - and I'm moving to a small community in a wooded area. This was just the fuel I needed to keep pushing for that goal. Thank you.

I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no “brief candle” for me.
