Professionally shot at the Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles on May 10, 1996. This performance features the "classic" GBV lineup (minus Greg Demos - Matt Sweeney from Chavez fills in). This poster is most definitely a wonderful person and a postal blowfish. Super helpful to see the set list / times. If this YT’ber worked for the DOT, they’d definitely be an exit flagged. Thx for your due diligence and taking the time to assemble the show. And yes, wtf! Five encores…it’s bananas but not surprising. It’s the best set list from one of GBV’s best years (1996) - it is reminiscent of the 2004 “Farewell” tour at Metro in Chicago new years evening where the rip some 63 songs. That show also had a killer set list/song mix. Everyone knew it wasn’t a “goodbye” show. GBV trivia: The bands longest show + set list. A) Los Angeles at “Tetragram Ballroom on New Year’s Eve 2020 They played a 100 song set for roughly 4 hours and 20 mins. 100 songs!! (That’s a sh*t ton of lyrics to remember) Bob was 62 at that time and is a true rock honey badger. “Alone, stinking but unafraid”.

I can't stand how horrific the kick drum is. The FOH engineer was probably a death metal or ska fan. The monitor feedback is usually cus of Bob's "cuffing" of the SM57. As an audio engineer I've seen this at Sapphire Supper Club in Orlando in 1999; then, they used a Sabine on the monitors. The F/B was targeted and gone in 10 minutes and Bob had all the monitor he needed at that amazingly crazy show. I'm amazed how tame the crowd was. In Orlando 'we' were nuts and Bob was soaked with beer that was tossed on him in a total celebration of seeing GBV for the first time in our lives. It was such an amazing show. I'll never forget it.....ever.

I've been into rock music since the British Invasion, have seen hundreds of live shows, and consider myself very knowledgeable about rock music from the 60's to now (1/1/2022). But I only ever knew one GBV song, "My Valuable Hunting Knife". I somehow missed knowing about this group until recently. A big miss on my part. They are a great band and, my God, how prolific a songwriter Bob Pollard is.

And watching things on KZbin, that I’ve never seen before. I was impressed with how sometimes, he’s extremely impressive vocally, and then it’s gone back down to normal. In those moments, he is at the top of the game, like a proper rock god of any century. He is a unique character in the world of rock, and most impressive and inspiring “rock star”. Bob “Everlast” Pollard is rock and roll’s “honey badger & ‘cock of the block’”. He is incomparable & GBV’s live shows are the best. Typical show usually 3 hours+ long, 50 to 70 song set plus anywhere from 2 or 3 encores. The 2020 New Year’s Eve show in Los Angeles holds the title of longest shoe. 4 hours 20 mins. / 100 song set. If anyone has a s-board copy of this show, I’d love to hear it (possibly get a copy 🤞🏻) “what makes big daddy, what makes the buzzard buzz..”

Bob Pollard, Colin Hay + the guys of The Replacements are great musicians & songwriters no doubt. However, they are actually hilarious comics between songs. The sh*t that comes to his head & out of his mouth is effing funny! One day, I am gonna play my GBV ‘bootlegs’ + KZbin vids of their shows. I think that you could fill a short book of comedy of his sh*t talk & between song banter. Bob’s a fan of the late Bill Hicks as well as Bobby Knight. That might explain the humor.

I've owned this for centuries on VHS - it's great - Bob's annoyance with the soundman (following on the night before as well) tends to slur the proceedings a bit, but the show's rock solid! Thanks!

I heard rumors that certain bands wanted to f them over by being divas (especially if GBV opened) and making the sound guy adjust it badly on purpose. Who knows - 👉 Bob and GBV win in the end....legends....GOATs 🐐 🤘
