Samaneri Jayasāra - Wisdom of the Masters

Жыл бұрын

This is a guided meditation on the power of listening as an effective means of entering into a meditative state. It encourages a gentle letting go of our reactivity to the sense world, and to the thoughts, concepts and the labels we attach to conditioned phenomena; and to finally recognise and rest into the continuity of Awareness as the background silence. It was spoken spontaneously by Jayasara.

when I was a boy at night when it was quiet an osculating high pitch ring would fill my ears and on Sunday night, which was the quietest night it would ring very loudly. One Sunday night it was really loud that it startled me, and I ran down the hallway to my mom's bedroom and woke her up and asked her what this loud ringing in my head was and she rolled over with half closed eyes and said, " Oh hon that is the sound of silence. " Now go to sleep! It resonates like, and echo chamber almost feels like bat radar or a submarine sonar which distinguishes objects from empty space, and I have settled into this form of meditation with good results. I'm a music lover and this way works very well for me! Much Love-

Hello again from Somerset in England. I was in Australia (Johanna, Victoria, and Bangalow, NSW) from November 22 for 5 weeks visiting my 2 daughters. I have lost touch with that regular daily meditation practise that was giving me so much freedom and balance in my life. But I am ready to meditate again. I like my “just sitting” meditations, Zazen and my zen readings. Your recordings are still very helpful for me. Thank you.

THANK ❤ YOU, DEAR Sister, for this most effective meditation/medication which I just happened to hear at just the right time - soothing and settling my soul - right after writing about the war in Gaza: how Netanyahu has turned all of Gaza into a concentration camp, making the Palestinians RUN for their lives, time after time, to NO SAFE PLACE. Parents pulling the limbs of their children out of the rubble..... and THOUSANDS slaughtered with no end to this depravity in sight. And nearly as upsetting as that is, is how our government has chosen to support this genocide by sending massive amounts of munitions to Netanyahu, even planning to welcome him in Congress on July 24th. I weep as I write these few words to you. How to reconcile such horrific barbarism with the Ancient Wisdom Teachings?

If I dare say, I took the liberty to adopt the Vairochana posture in seven points, eyes open, because I tend to space out and doze of eyes closed. Thanks for the trouble of making and publishing this lovely meditation that hits right to the point.

This is such a great video. It shows how listening can be a good way to prepare for meditation, but then it goes beyond to teach and discusse the really central issues of the nature of subject and object and how there is no "me," and how there is no time. Videos like this aid in making big leaps in understanding.
