Still miss it. Many days at 3pm I think of it. So many people still miss it. Cancelling it was a big mistake.

Billie Jones I wholeheartedly agree! They need to bring it back! I loved Guiding Light and I miss it still to this day.
@billiejones86024 жыл бұрын
@@jerrycarlson8968 I miss it too. And just think they replaced all the soaps with cooking shows, talk shows and doctor shows. Only so many recipes you need, only so much you can talk about and only so much doctors advice to be given. I especially miss Guiding Light and As The World Turns. And can't take watching anymore "reality shows".

at1:42 is the credit for my dad Ron Kelson, who died in 1994. He won an Emmy award for his sets for Guiding light in 1985, so it is so nice to see this.

It was just perfect -- theme, title design, background graphics, credit crawl. It just all went together so well. Would have loved to have met whoever put all this together and shake their hand. That glittering, turning jewel was just the bomb! All so elegant and rich which was fitting for the 80's.

Does this theme make the hair on your neck stand up or what? This is my fave. Not all organ, not lilting and sad and definitely not disco. It is the perfect theme, period.

Yes, they should have cut at least two minutes from the final episode and played one last credit crawl with theme music as a way of paying tribute to the show's historic run

I was never a Guiding Light viewer, but I am beginning to think this may have been the best soap theme ever. Pretty incredible. In terms of an "upbeat" themes I would vote for Ryan's Hope (wasn't a viewer of that one either) but for best overall, this one probably takes it.

Churlyryan . . . thank you for posting this. I looked for this from btm85bubs. I think that this should've been Guiding Light's last theme. It was too beautiful . . . it makes me a little dewey eyed. I remember this theme when I was younger. Miss those days when the world seemed like it was mine alone. Who knows . . . a retro-soap theme today . . . tomorrow . . . the world . . . This theme was "sofa-king" awesome ! !

So GL was done in NYC, in the same CBS studios (as a whole) where their sports and news coverage came from? (I said "as a whole" because the credit said "Recorded at the CBS Broadcast Center, New York City.")
@anthonyaustin3370 Жыл бұрын
GL originated from the actual CBS Broadcast Center at 57th St during the mid 60s and then in the early to mid 2000s only. The taping location for the episode in this clip was the Hi Brown studios at 221 West 26th St. GL taped at this location from 1968-88.
