Thank you for the wonderful videos. Lucille Wexler was one of my favorite characters, arguably GL's best villainess ever. Rita Lloyd was excellent at depicting a wealthy, powerful but deranged matron. The Lucille/Amanda relationship was one of the most fascinating mother/daughter relationships. I remember being shocked when Lucille was killed off.

Of all the soaps I watched in the 20th century GuidingLight was one of the sophisticated classiest and innovative because it started in radio 📻 then moved on too 📺 amazing

How did Rita Lloyd not get nominated for an Emmy. She's a stellar actress. And fun to see her opposite Taina Elg as her doctor - Ms. Elg would play a haunted matriarch of her own as Olympia Buchanan on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

I don't know about daytime Emmys but I think those nighttime ones 'are just rigged. Ever since Harvey Weinstein got exposed and maybe think about how people are nominated for awards. It's not who's the best it's who's got the most pull and people politicking for him. They mean nothing

The show's theme song at this time was "Ritournelle", a ravishingly lovely instrumental.

Such a beautiful piece. Best theme music from daytime during this era; Y&R comes close though.

stephen yates, who plays ben mcfarren on GL, can be seen in an episode of Kate and Allie. The episode is called The Last Temptation of Allie. I believe episode from around 1995.

Thank you for sharing these videos. I too was a big Rita Lloyd fan, first fan club I joined at like age 13. There was a scene I wanted to see, both the actresses, Rita and the woman who played her daughter, discussed being proud of the work they both did it, when it was revealed a lot of Lucille‘s behaviors stem from being sexually attacked years before we met the two. If anyone has a video of that scene I still would like to see it.

I also loved the storyline of Morgan and Kelly I was really surprised when Kristen Vigard left the role of Morgan so suddenly

Kristen was so mousy and I did have to take her in small doses. But Jennifer was so opposite but definitely easier to take

I LOVE Taina Elg (Dr. Fisher)...she played the first Mrs. Asa Buchanan, and probably the most vengeful of his ex-wives considering Asa, ever the hypocrite and chauvinist institutionalized her for having an affair.

I also saw RITA on as the world turns where she would play yet another villianous if im not mistaken as for tania i only saw her work on GL. As opposed to OLTL. Since i only grew up with all of the entire NBC along with the CBS daytime soaps although i would much later check out the ABC shows they were so so not sure why they were most watched back then i always felt that both cbs and nbc sosps had way better super couples and stories that pulled you in and they had actors and actresses who had better chemistry's especially the entire cast of guiding light and as the world turns over on cbs as well as both another world and search for tomorrow and the doctors over on nbc both actresses who played Lucille and carrie on GL. And iris and Cecile on AW. Were better vixens then the overrated erica kane over at all my children plus its good here to see charecters like hilary katie and later Annabelle and tony nola and quint trish louie ( katies love interest ) before they would all be kicked out in favor of the josh and reva show. I always felt that guiding light made a big mistake when the show fired all of them by 1985 actor stephen yates would later return to another world as a different charecter instead of reprising his role as chris he would play jamie frame i liked him on both GL. and AW. Its just to bad that the dummies over at cbs didnt fight hard enough to keep guiding light and as the world turns and get rid of the very silly bold and the beautiful although im ok with the young and the restless not so perfect either but compared to bold
