This aired 4 days after my late mom's 39th birthday when she watched this on WCBS Ch 2 living in East Keansburg, New Jersey. At the time, she was engaged to my dad and they were married 3 months later by Oct 12th.

I remember CBS ran a commercial all week long, the week when Lenore Kasdorf returned to "Guiding Light" during the first week of July: "Rita's back, and that's a fact!".

I sure wish i could have seen or heard what Rita had to say to Holly. Rita was so insecure without cause . Sure Holly was pretty but she couldn't hold a candle to Rita. and Rita was rocking those bathing suits.

Rita was her own worst enemy...and her insecurity caused more problems than Holly ever did....though Ed/Holly has unresolved feelings for one another. Roger, Maureen and Rita were jealous
@darnellanders8768 Жыл бұрын
@@citydweller99 I agree that all three parties were jealous but so was Holly jealous of Rita. Her meddling mother Barbara had nerve to judge Rita and call her out on betraying Ed with dishonesty when Holly did the same thing with her affair with Roger leading to her pregnancy with Christina. Holly lied tring to pass Christina off as Ed's baby girl. Rita just used that jealousy bit as so to be free to move on. She and Ed grew apart after she lost the baby that turned out to be his. Rita was just restless and bored with being the wife of a doctor. As far as Maureen goes she was jealous of Holly but she came to realize it was her best friend Lilian whom she should have been watching. .Maureen died upon finding out Ed had an affair with Lilian. ED didn't love any of those women as much as he loved Rita. They were so happy just weeks before Rita was raped. She spent the weekend in New York with Ed. ..After the rape it was all about the shame guilt and coverup for Rita and things went down hill.. I was pretty much done with Rita when she started supporting the cause of the ruthless Alan Spaulding even knowing that he was the one who financed Roger's escape and that also led to Roger kidnapping Rita and tying her up then leaving her there in the cabin to kick over that lantern which started the fire which led to the death of her baby..

I believe Rita lost the baby and there was a fire at the cabin. Mike and Ed I believe eventually found her at the cabin.
@mthivier2 жыл бұрын
As authorities were closing in on Roger, he fled, knocking over a kerosene lantern in the process, which set the cabin on fire. Rita was rescued, but all the smoke that she had inhaled caused her to lose the baby. She was devastated over the loss, and couldn't face Ed, and she returned with her mother to West Virginia for several months, until she'd recovered from the loss. This episode is set just as she was returning to Springfield from West Virginia.
@darnellanders8768 Жыл бұрын
@@mthivier Actually it was a tied up Rita who knocked over the lantern causing the fire as she tried to free herself. Before all that the test results proved that Ed was indeed the father and not Greg Fairbanks. They meaning Greg Eve Ed and doctor Mckintosh found out before Rita due to being kidnapped by Roger. I lost track of the show when i started working so wish i could see Eve's reaction after finding out it was Greg who had the affair with Rita , Eve had finally given herself sexually with Greg . I could never understand why Rita didn't warn her baby sister about that sleezy guy. I'm sure he didn't get that promotion he so desperately wanted.
@mthivier Жыл бұрын
@@darnellanders8768 That always baffled me too, that Rita would have just let Evie walk into Greg's arms (and his bed), knowing first-hand what a smarmy bottom-feeder he was. All I can think of is that she'd made a mess of her own life by that point (estranged from Ed, pregnant and not sure who the father was), and so maybe she didn't feel like she was in a place to advise anyone else on their life choices. I honestly can't remember the specifics of Eve finding out the truth about Greg, or of Greg leaving Springfield (I also missed lots of episodes at the time). I imagine there was a very emotional phone conversation between Rita and Eve though, since Rita was still in West Virginia, I guess it would have happened off-camera.

I've watched alot of these Ladies hanging out and talking, and sometimes I see "Lesbian" overtures. Rita and Eve, then Jackie & Elizabeth even on The Doctors when Elizabeth Hubbard was having lunch with a friend at her Apartment there's this running joke about "Having Lunch". Also in The UK there was a Soap Opera called Doctors.
